It can be hard to choose where to eat when in the area, so these are the places we suggest for a Coral Gables lunch
This deli began using its own product to serve lunch to its patrons, leading to the best sandwiches you can find in the area. Gusto Fino presents the finest Italian delicacies in the neighborhood, including imported meats and cheeses, specialty items, wines, and more. Everything else is made from scratch, meaning sauces, dressings, meatballs, and dessert. By combining all these fresh and high-quality ingredients, it doesn’t come as a surprise how good the food is. Even though the ingredients are not cheap, the deli surely knows how to pack them in. Get any sandwich and you will be surprised at how hefty your order will feel. But unlike the competition that relies solely on large portions instead of high-quality, Gusto Fino focuses on both. The Don Tomasino ($8.99), made Parma Prosciutto (Aged min 13 months), Roasted Turkey, Asiago, Pesto Sauce, Tomatoes, Arugula Salad Mix, Olive Oil & Glaze, is a world-class sandwich that shows that simplicity does not have to be boring. The carefully selected ingredients shine through, making you cringe at the thought of eating a Subway sandwich again. The service is stellar, with the owner working the counter and bending over backward and forward to get you whatever you want. With places such as these in the neighborhood, you’ll wonder why you should restrain yourself from eating here every day you can.

Miami’s easy access to fresh seafood and its varied demographics make it a perfect place to recreate cuisine from various nations, such as Peru. Peruvian food is growing in popularity throughout the city, and Divino Ceviche is one of the restaurants doing it best. Peruvian food is known for being rustic and to the point, but Divino Ceviche has taken it upon itself to elevate the cuisine with a chic and trendy atmosphere by utilizing a catchy atmosphere, good music, and appealing tableware. At the heart of it all though, it is still well executed Peruvian food. You will find staples such as lomo salteado, leche de tigre, tiraditos, and arroz chaufa, but what you’re going to order is the Divino Ceviche ($14.99). Made with fish, avocado, mango, lime juice, chili, cilantro, and garnished with sweet potato and corn, this dish, which is considered an aphrodisiac, is Peru’s national food. When made correctly, it is refreshing and satisfying, giving you bites of fresh fish that are cooked perfectly through the acid in the lime juice. The vegetables and fruit are meant to accompany the fish, which is the main attraction in this simple dish.

No other restaurant in the city has more accolades than Pincho Factory, and with good reason. They’ve been on national television, visited by the Travel Channel, won local awards commending their burgers and fries, and been involved in competitions as prestigious as the Food Network South Beach Wine and Food Festival. But even though Pincho Factory has all of this under its belt, it manages to stay a down-to-earth mom and pop restaurant just focusing on serving the best food possible. This is Pincho Factory’s second location, but the food and quality is just as good as the one on Bird Road. The Gables location is almost twice the size and sits people more comfortably, making for a plesant experience that doesn’t seem crowded even during a busy lunch rush. Although the word Pincho (meaning “shishkabob”) is in the name, you must get the Toston Burger ($7.99). This fusion between American and Latin food perfectly marries the two cultures by combining a made to order chuck, brisket, and short rib patty and two fried plantains as the bun. The beer selection at Pincho Factory is pleasing, with enough variation where you are willing to find anything that suits your tastes.

Miami isn’t normally considered a dining destination when it comes to French food, but this French diner will make you wonder why. Frenchie’s has soul. With a charm similar to what you will find in France, you will be transported to a Parisian street as you sip on expertly made food and espressos. This restaurant just screams France, with French servers, a French menu, and French articles on the wall, except that the service here is better than the stereotypical condescending French attitude. They are only open on the weekdays, and like any good French business, they close between lunch and dinner, meaning you have between 11a.m and 3 p.m to come in for your meal. The food is non-pretentious and offers classic renditions of your expected French cuisine, except that it is executed to perfection. The Croque Monsieur ($12) is a sandwich made of ham, cheese, and béchamel all toasted together to make the ultimate ham and cheese sandwich. Greater than the sum of its parts, the sandwich offers crispiness, decadence, saltiness, and just enough fat to make you want a nap after ingesting it. The Moules Frites ($21) are a giant bowl of steaming mussels in a broth made with beer served and topped with shavings of parmesan with a side of crispy, fresh, homemade French fries. The mussels are meaty and taste fresh, with a portion size that looks like it’ll be enough for two people. Before you realize it, you will have eaten the whole plate by yourself.

Straying away from the notion that eateries in the Gables have to be expensive, formal, and top-notch in terms of ambiance, Pete’s Authentic Cooking offers a place where you can come for a casual meal. This restaurant was basically created for the businessperson’s lunch, since it is only open until 3 p.m. Options on the menu include salads, soups, and sandwiches, but do not disregard this place as boring, because it is anything but that. There are specials of the day available, but the menu also offers a varied selection. We recommend Roasted chicken with Curry sauce, granny smith apples, and pecans on your choice of bread ($8.50), offering a somewhat healthy and satisfying lunch that is reasonably priced. For vegetarians, it may be harder to find a more satisfying sandwich than the option at Pete’s, since the Vegetarian black bean hummus, with tomato, avocado, peppers, and cheddar on your choice of bread ($8.50) shows the creativity and ambition this restaurant has.
