This neighborhood bookstore house in a historic 1927 Mediterranean-style home has much to offer to those in Coral Gables. On certain nights, you can come in and see events being held by authors, both locally and internationally known. Since 1982, Books & Books has hosted writers as part of its Reading Series in an effort to promote literacy in the city. These authors come and have seminars, with small canapés and drinks being offered depending on the event. For the musically inclined, Friday and Saturday nights include live music series performed by musicians of all sorts, including Jazz, Latin, African, and Caribbean artists. The road takes you down Miami must-sees, such as Matheson Hammocks Park, Cocoplum Circle, Fairchild Tropical Garden, and the Charles Deering Estate. Be forewarned though, as the trip can be extended, ranging in approximately a 14-mile length.
Improving mobility and helping relieve localized traffic congestion, the somewhat new trolley system in Miami gives people the opportunity to travel through the city and see what Miami has to offer. Although it is not only a Coral Gables attraction, the Trolley naviagates through a large portion of the Coral Gables neighborhood (including Miracle Mile) and lets passengers learn and experience what the area is about. These vintage-looking diesel trolleys runs 15-20 minutes, Monday through Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 8 p.m along Coral Way from PortMiami, through the Central Business District and the Roads area to Coral Way, then west to Ponce de Leon Boulevard.
