Farmers Market

Saturday mornings on the corner of Miracle Mile and Le Jeune Road, you can find one of Miami’s best Farmers Markets. Although it is only functional from January through March, this market takes complete advantage of the season’s givings and allows the neighborhood to enjoy nature in all its glory. The farmers market offers fresh florida produce, baked goods, prepared foods, and even baking demos. Even if you’re not the foodie type, this farmers market has something to offer to you, with activities sure to capture your attention. Activities such as gardening workshops, free tai chi classes, live music, and children’s activities are offered, making a stop here something the whole family can do. The farmers market is sponsored by the City of Coral Gables and is disabled accessible.

Books and Books in Coral Gables

This neighborhood bookstore house in a historic 1927 Mediterranean-style home has much to offer to those in Coral Gables. On certain nights, you can come in and see events being held by authors, both locally and internationally known. Since 1982, Books & Books has hosted writers as part of its Reading Series in an effort to promote literacy in the city. These authors come and have seminars, with small canapés and drinks being offered depending on the event. For the musically inclined, Friday and Saturday nights include live music series performed by musicians of all sorts, including Jazz, Latin, African, and Caribbean artists. The performance is based at the outdoor patio surrounding the wine and beer bar, serving reasonably priced drinks that will have you enjoying your time here to the fullest.

Stroll Miracle Mile

Miracle Mile is located on Coral Way between Le Jeune Ave and Douglas Ave. Within this half-mile strip of land, you will most of what’s going on in the Coral Gables neighborhood. Whether it be the hottest restaurants, the chicest boutiques, or the more renowned shops, Miracle Mile is where all things happen. If you plan to spend anytime in Coral Gables at all, this is probably in the area where you will end up. Due to its short distance in length, it can be explored easily without having to worry too much about getting tired. Most of the buildings are originally standing from the 1930s, and the nearby trees provide a landscape and atmosphere that gives a sense of elegance and grandeur. So even if you just come to Miracle Mile to take a stroll and people watch, it is a must-visit destination when in Coral Gables.

Bike Old Cutler Trail

Old Cutler may be one of the most scenic roads in America, with its century old trees and historic homes spread throughout. As you bike your way down the road, you will literally be taking a ride down history, as Old Cutler offers scenes of Miami as it used to be. The road takes you down Miami must-sees, such as Matheson Hammocks Park, Cocoplum Circle, Fairchild Tropical Garden, and the Charles Deering Estate. Be forewarned though, as the trip can be extended, ranging in approximately a 14-mile length.

Trolley Ride

Improving mobility and helping relieve localized traffic congestion, the somewhat new trolley system in Miami gives people the opportunity to travel through the city and see what Miami has to offer. Although it is not only a Coral Gables attraction, the Trolley naviagates through a large portion of the Coral Gables neighborhood (including Miracle Mile) and lets passengers learn and experience what the area is about. These vintage-looking diesel trolleys runs 15-20 minutes, Monday through Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 8 p.m along Coral Way from PortMiami, through the Central Business District and the Roads area to Coral Way, then west to Ponce de Leon Boulevard.
