Anthony Bourdain is a culinary icon. Whether you know him as a chef, author or television personality, you know him. Bourdain is no stranger to Miami and has even featured our sun-filled city in his Travel Channel show The Layover. Here is a list of some of Bourdain’s favorite Miami spots.

Michael’s Genuine

An organic lover’s paradise! The menu at Michael’s Genuine is full of...well, genuine ingredients. Their menu is subject to change daily because they are committed to serving the freshest food. A partnership with local farmers, fishermen and ranchers ensures high quality and high taste. Sustainability is their mission and they have even won awards for it. For a great meal with no guilt you have to stop here.

Food Truck Circle in Tropical Park

Right of the Palmetto Tropical Park is known to many South Miami locals. The newest craze in good food findings to hit Miami is the food truck phenomenon. Where bright, cartoon-looking trucks serve up some of the finest dishes you will find in Miami. So popular that people will follow trucks on twitter to know where they are stopping. Tropical Park has a parade of these trucks offering you an array of gourmet choices from artisan grilled cheese to italian gelato to argentine style burgers.

El Palacio de los Jugos

Miami’s true gem. Over 40 years old this fruit stand turned into a local favorite for lunch. It has become so popular that the palace has opened up several locations all around Miami! It is true Cuban food served right from a ventanilla with the scrumptious punch you will find in most Cuban dishes. Bourdain orders the chicharrones but I prefer the seafood paella. Don’t leave without getting a big glass of fresh squeezed juice.

Garcia's Seafood

Another Miami staple that has been serving us locals for over 40 years Garcia’s offers the best seafood around. The restaurant has it’s own fleet of fishing boats to make sure your catch is fresh and in season. It’s your typical fisherman’s diner with decent prices and staples like grouper, salmon and the beloved Miami conch. Right next to the Miami River you can feel the breeze through your hair, watch the fishermen set sail and you may even see a dolphin or Florida manatee swing by.

Chez Le Bebe

One of the most well loved Haitian restaurant around and featured in one of my previous articles ;). Located in non-other than Little Haiti itself Chez Le Bebe is famous for their griot (fried pork chunks). The menu is short but full of flavor. The local restaurant has been in business for nearly 30 years and has a dive-bar feel. Pretty much exactly what you would find on an island a no fuss-diner with amazing food.
