pronto pasta miami

For my Pronto Pasta review, I have to say, it is a secret gem hidden away in the busy narrow streets of Downtown Miami. Meeting up with the Brazilian owner, Caio, he explains a little about what kind of food he serves at his newly introduced establishment.

Pronto Pasta is serving fast food but without all the negative connotations of it. When fast food comes to mind, cheap, unhealthy, unsavory food is normally thought of. But in this case, the only thing that’s true is the speediness of the service. The food here was far from unhealthy – quite the opposite, really. Not only do they have whole wheat and gluten-free pastas available, they are freshly made on a daily basis!.Caio also mentions that his sauces are homemade; all of his sauces are made from scratch and nothing is reused if it’s a day old.

The menu offers nine different types of pasta and 12 different sauces. The homemade alfredo, and the vodka are the top favorites amongst the usual customers. This little establishment offers speedy service at very reasonable prices for quality food. All pastas are served with freshly grated parmesan cheese, and students get a 10% discount when they show their school ID.

Although Caio emphasizes quality over quantity, there’s definitely a gain in both when visiting Pronto Pasta. There are two sizing options: a small which is 26oz, and a whopping 32oz large; and there’s only a $1 difference. There’s also a great reward point system where every purchase is 5 points, and you can accumulate a certain amount in exchange for different prizes.

Caio was kind enough to let me try the radiatori carbonara and the salmon trotolle.

Carbonara, in my opinion, is either a hit or miss. Unfortunately, you won’t find good carbonara unless the place is upscale and expensive; but I have finally found a happy median. The carbonara was surprisingly thick and creamy, with generous chunks of bacon in the mix. There was nothing dry or watery about this sauce, which was extremely astonishing as this cost less than $10!

Next, was the salmon trotolle. Let me just add here that this is the first time I discover there are pastas aside from penne and linguine out in the market. Anyway, the homemade salmon sauce that Caio makes has cream, fresh salmon, onions, and chives. I was a bit skeptical trying out the salmon, just because I got to the store right before closing time and I didn’t really know how fresh it was going to taste.

Well my doubts were at ease because the salmon sauce was amazing.

Caio explains that the salmon served in the dish is bought fresh, and not bought in frozen bulk. The sauce was very savory, filled with strong flavors like the onion and chives (which is my thing), and plenty of salmon portions were tossed in.

Let’s say you aren’t feeling pasta for breakfast, but there’s always the breakfast panini option that’s also served throughout the day. Want a lighter option? You can always ask for a freshly made ceasar or greek salad.
