The time has come for Miami Culinary Tours to write about the Miami Brew Bus.  As a Denver native, I am ever intrigued by craft beers. I’ve learned to appreciate locally brewed libations that can be enjoyed right where they are made and it's something I crave when I am home. In the past few years, I’ve luckily noticed more local beers popping up on menus around Miami and have increasingly found myself opting for these rather than say, a Blue Moon or Shocktop. That’s why when I saw a deal for the Miami Brew Bus, I immediately bought a ticket, eager to find out what it was all about.

We showed up at the aptly named Lokal in Coconut Grove on a Saturday afternoon (one of my favorite spots in the neighborhood). We were ready to drink and were given a couple beers, Florida-made of course, to get us in the mood. Once our group was ready to go, we hopped on the bus and made our way up north to Funky Buddha Brewery in Oakland Park, FL. I had always heard about this place and wanted to check it out, but was a bit deterred because of the distance. This is one reason the bus is a great idea!

We pulled up and I was instantly reminded of a place I would find in Colorado. There was a huge bar, plenty of casual seating, TVs and an airy patio to take in the beautiful weather. Our eager guide took us through every step of the brewing process while we got to try four distinct beers along the way. Afterwards, we had some free time to try some more (I had Rice Krispy beer that was amazing) and enjoy delicious food from local food truck BC Tacos. We even got a nice branded pint glass to go.

After that, we made to Wynwood Brewing Company. Before even starting the tour, we were treated to our choice of three beers. I went with La Rubia, their American blonde I had tried before and knew I liked. After that, we got a tour with their Tap Room Manager and learned all about their brewing process and plans of expansion. Back in their seating area, we had the chance to try some more beers from local breweries besides Wynwood like Cigar City Brewing.

We had to stop drinking eventually and made our way back to Lokal. In the next couple months, there are plans to include MIA Brewing Co. when it's ready to open, but for now, you still try plenty of beer and learn a lot. It’s $60 per person for the tour, but worth the price. I’d suggest rallying a group of your friends together for a fun Saturday or Sunday afternoon boozin’ and cruisin’.
