Kane Steakhouse Now Open

Sure to become one of the area’s most exclusive fine dining establishments, boasting a chic, sophisticated design and a seductive menu, Kane Steakhouse, located at 431 Washington Avenue in South Beach’s booming “South of Fifth” area, is now open to the public. A partnership between seasoned restaurateur Mathew Glazier – the man behind NYC’s venerable Strip House and Michael Jordan’s The Steak House N.Y.C. at Grand Central Terminal among others, and well known nightlife impresarios Roman Jones and Justin Levine – creators of Mansion, SET, and Louis Bar-Lounge, among others, Kane offers a veritable trifecta of fine cuisine, modern design and a seductive ambiance.

“Kane reflects our philosophy of offering the very best in both food and service. We want to raise the bar by offering spectacular décor, a great vibe, with exceptional cuisine and flawless service,” says Glazier.

The menu, created by talented chef Daniel Ganem, features a sumptuous array of upscale steakhouse classics: irresistible appetizers, perfectly charred premium cuts of beef, as well as innovative seafood, meat, poultry dishes and creative sides with a uniquely modern spin. The 122-seat restaurant features a beautiful bar offering a vast selection of fine wines and creative cocktails and an elegant private room accommodating 12 guests for small parties and tastings.

Ganem (28), a rising culinary star, brings to Kane an unbeatable mix of steakhouse savvy and fine dining experience. Previously of Michael Mina’s Bourbon Steak and, most recently, Laurent Tourondel’s BLT Steak, Ganem, a Miami native of Chilean descent, has also worked under world-renowned Michelin starred chef Martin Berasategui in the Basque region of Spain. In addition to a fine culinary team, the front of the house is overseen by expert restaurant manager John Thai, a familiar face in Miami by virtue of his nearly 16 years at Carpaccio Restaurant in Bal Harbour, who provides the seamless service he is known for. Thai oversees a seasoned team of servers are either outfitted in black blazers with white piping or in white blazers with black piping, accented with black and white striped ties – inspired by preppy, collegiate uniforms.

The culinary journey at Kane begins with a complimentary amuse bouche, designed to whet the appetite. Beautifully plated appetizers ($14-$22) include crispy salt cod dumplings served with salsa verde; perfectly roasted Berkshire bacon served alongside a refreshing apple-fennel slaw; the signature Kane salad with charred baby corn, gold beets, cucumbers and asparagus with a Dijon vinaigrette and duck fat potato chips served with a gorgonzola cheese fondue and spicy tomato relish. This must-try offering is available in family-style portions, the perfect accompaniment to Kane’s icy cocktails.

Meat lovers will be happy to hear that Kane’s menu offers a variety of premium cuts of steak ($44-$86), including a bone-in 20 oz. rib eye (the chef’s favorite cut of meat), a Wagyu dry rubbed skirt steak, tender, center cut chateaubriand for two, and a succulent classic porterhouse, both meant to be shared. Also on offer: filet mignon and New York strip steaks in various sizes as well as a beautiful veal T-bone.

Entrees ($32-$48) include: Dijon crusted Colorado rack of lamb in a bordelaise sauce, a lightly battered yellowtail snapper with chorizo and tomato crab sauce as well as locally-raised organic whole chicken for two, stuffed with bacon, stilton cheese, spinach, expertly deboned by chef Ganem and meant for two.

To complement entrees, a variety of sauces ($2-$3), all made in-house. These include a creamy blue cheese, bordelaise, spicy tomato relish choron, and a traditional Argentine steak sauce, chimichurri. Rounding out the menu are a slew of innovative sides ($8-$14), such as roasted garlic potato purée, cauliflower au gratin, creamed spinach, crispy fried seaweed, and a creamy jalapeño corn pudding.

Desserts ($8-$19), overseen by Ganem, who started his culinary career as a pastry chef, feature a moist pineapple upside down cake, Kane fried s’mores served with honey-white chocolate ice cream; and churro-style donuts in a box accompanied by Nutella and berry marmalade dipping sauces. Kane also offers an assortment of house-made sorbets.

A carefully selected list of over 240 wines from around the world, includes a vast selection of dessert wines and other libations such as handcrafted cocktails ($14-$18) featuring the blackberry pie, incorporating Patron silver, blackberries, agave nectar and fresh lime juice; the cool as a cucumber, a mix of Plymouth Gin, fresh lemon juice, simple syrup and cucumber slices; and the Kane Kosmo, a blend of Grey Goose, cranberry, Curacao liquor and fresh lime juice, offer flavors that are cool and invigorating.

For Kane, the esteemed design firms of Francois Frossard Design and 7 Sins Design Group have collaborated to create a chic, sexy, timeless decor, featuring a refined palette of textured black, warm greys and pearly whites, accented with a wall of pale river rock and charcoal grey pecky cypress walls. At the entrance of the restaurant is an illuminated white onyx topped bar, with Moroccan-style wood lattice screens on top of smoked mirror, surrounded by luxurious black lacquered bar stools with creamy white upholstered seats. Plasma screens, hidden by mirrored panels when not in use, run along the bar. The sexy dining room features grey porcelain flooring, pecky cypress columns, and black raw silk tufted walls. Banquettes, upholstered in a rich black eel-skin with lush white tufted fabric backs line the northern wall, under a stunning expanse of river rock with a 40-foot “river” of tilted mirror providing a see-and-be-seen dimension. Tables are dressed in pristine white linens.

A stunningly beautiful private dining area, hidden behind dramatic glass shelving and one-way mirror, accommodates 12 guests and features red Murano glass chandeliers, and full audio-visual capabilities, including a 60- inch plasma screen, allowing VIP guests to create unique exclusive parties and special events. For enhanced privacy and a bit of fun, the private dining room features classic “Do Not Disturb” and “Service Please” signs that guests can illuminate via remote control.

Now open to the public, Kane Steakhouse is located at 431 Washington Avenue in the heart of South Beach. The restaurant serves dinner nightly starting at 5:30 p.m.; Monday through Thursday until midnight, Friday and Saturday ‘til 1 a.m. and Sunday’s ‘til 11 p.m. Reservations are suggested.
