Driving to Bal Harbour is easy for me, I am only a few minutes from the mall so when I was talking to Mirka about what restaurant to go to take advantage of the few days remaining of Miami Spice, my first choice was Makoto which based on my understanding this place serves Japanese cuisine. We arrived early for lunch - and although I never trust restaurants at shopping malls, we all know that bal harbour shops is a bit of a different place than your regular mall. This is where you can find shoes starting at $500 if you are in the mood for it (and the wallet to support it). I have eaten at all of the restaurants here and I have to say, they leave a lot to be desired so I was skeptical but the food was not a disappointment at Makoto.

Makoto Restaurant in Bay Harbor Islands

Frosty kobe fried rice foie gras, shichimi, jidori egg

This dish was one of the best dishes I have ever had! First I thought that raw frozen meat would not be a good with rice but when all was mixed with the half cooked egg, it ended up being a very delicious surprise. I give this dish at Makoto a rounded number 10, I will certainly be back for it, in fact, I can't stop thinking about it.
