MIAMI (March 20, 2014) – Kristin Chenoweth, the Tony and Emmy award winning star of Wicked, TV’s The West Wing, Pushing Daisies and Glee, will perform live during the final night of VeritageMiami. The closing event, Dinner on the Diamond, takes place on Saturday, April 12 on the infield at Marlins Park beginning at 6:30 pm. Chenoweth will lead the “seventh-inning stretch” where she will perform a selection of her most memorable songs and Broadway show tunes. Presented by City National Bank, the four-day celebration of food, wine and philanthropy benefits United Way of Miami-Dade.
Perhaps best known for originating the role of Glinda the Good Witch in “Wicked” on Broadway for which she received a Tony Award nomination, Chenoweth has transitioned effortlessly between stage, television and film throughout her accomplished career. She received rave reviews while starring in the ABC series “Pushing Daisies,” where she received an Emmy Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series. Chenoweth was also nominated for two Emmy Awards and for a People’s Choice Award for her guest role on Fox’s comedy “Glee.” Chenoweth also starred as Annabeth Schott on the hit drama “The West Wing.” Chenoweth is also godmother of Royal Caribbean International’s newest ship, Quantum of the Seas, which debuts in the fall of 2014. “We are honored to have a world-class entertainer of Kristen Chenoweth’s stature as part of our VeritageMiami festivities,” said Richard Fain, His Royal Corkscrew of VeritageMiami. “VeritageMiami is about offering our guests unique and memorable experiences and I believe having dinner on the infield of Marlins Park while listening to the extraordinarily talented Kristen Chenoweth perform will make for a one-of-a-kind evening.”
Dinner on the Diamond begins with the “Warm-Up” – a silent auction in the Marlins Park Skyline Terrace. Guests will be able to bid on a number of incredible items while enjoying champagne and hor d’oeuvres. After the reception, guests will take the field where dinner and the live auction await on the diamond. After a number of homerun auction items are sold, Kristin Chenoweth will step up to the mound to lead the “seventh-inning stretch” – singing some of her most memorable songs and Broadway hits. After a few more innings of eating, sipping and bidding, the live auction will come to a close with a laser light show fit for the major leagues, but the night doesn’t stop there. Guests are invited to a grand slam of an after-party at the Clevelander where they will find an array of dessert bites, Bacardi cocktails, and a magical guest. Lights go out at 11:30pm.
