Tag: CHOCOLATE MOUSSE CAKE

I have been watching this restaurant from afar for some time now but never dared to visit, it was always so full of people. It is in my neighborhood and I was curious as to why this little venue was getting so much attention from the locals. I dared to actually eat here with my little Miss Y. and Mr. G. last week.

First of all, the staff was warm and welcoming, and the first thing we saw after we entered were the patrons smiling as they ate. That is always a good sign. We were starving so we ordered the Mozzarela Caprese and Fried Calamari as a starters, then the Lasagna...and dessert was up to the Miss Y. We have a tendency to order many little plates so we all can all share and taste different things.

Garlic Rolls

The first dish they brought to the table after the drinks were Garlic Rolls. The rolls, were quite fragrant when they arrived, filling our surroundings with the warm aroma of garlic and melted cheese. I took a bite and it was simply heaven. This is definitely not diet food so please refrain if you are watching your figure, delicious calories will add up fast.

AMICI’s House Salad

A simple garden salad was presented next. Fresh greens, tomatoes, cucumbers combined with the house dressing. It was a pleasant and crunchy interlude leading to the next course, fried calamari.

FRIED CALAMARI

So satisfying served with lime wedges and marinara sauce. It was lip-smacking good, not extraordinary but still quite memorable....we were not starving anymore by the time the lasagna arrived.

LASAGNA

This is Amici’s homemade lasagna. Not really attractive but it had a good taste. Very cheesy, creamy and volcano-hot when it arrived. In spite of us not being so hungry, the lasagna also disappeared from the plate. Quickly.

CHOCOLATE MOUSSE CAKE

Mr. G. and I were completely full and ready to take a nap right at the table at this stage, but little Miss Y. was more than ready for dessert: her choice was the Chocolate Mousse Cake. And what a choice that was...quite a gigantic wedge of cake served with an even more massive serving of whipped cream. I took a little bite and it melted in my mouth like butter and then Miss Y. confiscated the rest of the cake for her own enjoyment. “ No more for you Mommy ! ”, she said.

Looking for an informal & comfortable place to take your family for an affordable Italian feast? Well Amici’s should definitely be considered. This is not a gourmet joint by any means, just a simple, down-to earth place to eat well and enjoy. The total for all this was less than $40.00 and three of us ate well, it would have been enough for four diners as too.

Taste is important here . Conviviality and friendliness is an essential part of their philosophy. The next time you find yourself in The Hammocks, a visit is in order for sure.
