Cuban Chef and Twice-Published Author Decisively Wins Contest

Miami, FL (February 2011) – Not all chefs are created equal. Some bring on the heat in the kitchen, and others are on fire outside of their domain too. Cuban Chef and Author Ana Quincoces (www.anaquincoces.com) is one of the latter, having determinedly won Eater Miami’s Hottest Chef Contest (www.miami.eater.com), which began with 18 chefs, and was narrowed down to six, and then to two, and one. With 78% of the votes, 8571 votes total, over Scarpetta’s Chef de Cuisine Michael Pirolo, Quincoces has proven that she has tremendous fan support, and of course, hotness! Quincoces now goes on to compete in Eater’s National Hottest Chef Competition.

Quincoces grew up in a Cuban household in sunny Miami, Florida, where she was routinely conscripted to help her mother in the kitchen. This led to her passion for the art of cooking. Like many young Cuban girls, Quincoces was given a well-known Cuban cookbook as a gift by her mother. While she cooked from the book regularly, she always found it difficult and not very user friendly. As the time approached for Quincoces to teach her own daughters the way around a Cuban kitchen, she attempted in vain to find another authentic Cuban cookbook; one that would appeal to a younger generation. Quincoces never found that book - so she decided to write it herself.

Her first cookbook “Cuban Chicks Can Cook” was written both as a tribute to her mother and as a legacy for her teenage daughters. The book quickly sold out in many local bookstores, and Quincoces made numerous media appearances in magazines and newspapers and on national television. As a result of her first book’s success, Quincoces was encouraged to write a second Cuban cookbook, “Sabor

"A Passion for Cuban Cuisine.”

Since then, Quincoces, who is bilingual in Spanish, has become a spokesperson for IMUSA, the number one Hispanic brand in the country sold in over 10,000 stores nationwide. Quincoces has been a keynote speaker at events for Slow Food, as well as a recipe demonstrator at Macy’s locations in the Southeast for the American Heart Association and Hispanic Heritage Week. She has recorded weekly cooking segment for Telemundo’s “Acesso Total” in Spanish, and most recently, she taped cooking segments for several upcoming reality shows on Bravo and VH-1, including “The Real Housewives of Miami.”

Quincoces is a contributing editor for Venue Magazine, which is distributed in the US, Latin America and in all of the Hudson News stores at airports nationwide. Quincoces is also very involved with children’s issues and is extremely philanthropic raising both awareness and funds for organizations close to her heart. In addition, she blogs on many popular websites and is very involved in all aspects of social media.

Quincoces is a licensed attorney in the State of Florida, a partner at the Law Firm of Rodriguez & Quincoces, P.A., and is currently working on her third cookbook.
