Commencing April 1, the U.S. launch of Barceló Organic follows the initial test launch in New Jersey where the organically produced rum performed exceptionally well driven by strong consumer demand for organic foods and beverages.
Barceló Organic is distilled from the fresh juice of organic sugar cane grown on the Ron Barceló estate. From a plot only 1.5 square kilometers in size, the sugar cane grows untamed without the use of synthetic chemicals, fertilizers or pesticides. After distillation, the rum is aged in American oak barrels without any previous use for aging other distilled spirits.
Its blend of aged rums gives Barceló Organic an intense amber color. It possesses aromas of caramelized cherry, cocoa and tobacco. On the palate, bold notes of fleshy fruits stand out but, in the background appear roasted dried fruits and pink pepper reminders. Barceló Organic is clean and pure, with a long and smooth finish making it perfect for enjoying straight over ice or mixed in a Highball or an Old Fashioned.
The highly anticipated release of Barceló Organic is the result of an extreme commitment to sustainability, specifically the distillery’s rigorous implementation of its own sustainability program called RB360. This program monitors and regulates production and manufacturing activity based on the environmental impacts in 4 areas – air, water, earth and community. As a result, Barceló became the first distillery in the world to obtain Carbon Neutral Status under the Bilan Carbone® license.
