Miami Culinary Tour's Art Deco Historical, Architectural and Breakfast tour

Miami Culinary Tours Launches Tour to Showcase History, Architecture, and Food

Miami Culinary Tours (MCT), Miami's original pioneer in the culinary tour industry regarded for offering a completely different perspective of Miami to tourists, will be launching the Art Deco Historical, Architectural and Breakfast tour this June 2014. This tour is designed to offer a glimpse of what Miami has to offer by educating guests on the menagerie of cultures found in the area through food samples and historical and architectural knowledge.  Experience what South Beach has to offer with an array of colorful and stimulating architecture, music, smells, food, art, and people.

A light but filling breakfast composed of mostly Hispanic street food will give you the energy you need to stay stimulated and make your way between historical sites. Samples include Dulce de Leche Churros, a ridged fritter rolled in a mix of sugar and a small amount of salt and filled with a thick caramel sauce; Cafe Cubano, the ultra-strong espresso-like drink that fuels Miami through their days and nights; Refajo, A blend of Colombian soda (similar to a cream soda) and light beer as a refreshing pick-me-up; Yucca bunuelo, a fritter made from the starchy root native to Latin countries; Batido de Mamey, impossibly thick and creamy shake made from a sweet, salmon-colored tropical fruit; and Colombian empanadas, delectably crispy cornmeal dough fritters filled with a flavorful blend of meat and potato.

The South Beach Pop Culture Breakfast Tour is led by a passionate guide who will walk you through one of the largest collections of art deco buildings in the world and educate you about the melting pot of cultures that is Miami. Historical stops include the Tudor House, where you will be educated on the different components of an Art Deco building through the architecture; the Tides Hotel, giving you a sense of modern luxury as you appreciate the design of the Art-Deco-influenced lobby; a stroll through Espanola Way, a street located in the Art Deco district that is actually modeled after Spanish and French villages, while listening to mesmerizing stories about the notorious Al Capone; the Congress Hotel, where you will witness breathtaking views of South Beach from the nautical themed icon; and the Versace Mansion, where you will hear the tragic and haunting story of Versace, the italian fashion designer who was murdered on the streets of South Beach, as you experience the grandeur and elegance of the place he used to once call home.

Tours are offered daily at 10:30 am. The tours last between two to three hours depending on the size of the group and involve about a 1 mile walk around the Deco District. For more information, visit www.miamiculinarytours.com or call (786) 942-8856.
