Latin Restaurant Weeks, LLC will be hosting its 2021 inaugural campaign in Miami from Monday, November 1 through Sunday, November 15. Sponsored by Aunt Jackie’s Curls and Coils and community partners with the Miami Dolphins, the two-week culinary campaign celebrates the flavors of Latin American cuisine all while stimulating the local economy. The regional showcase will amplify Latin-owned culinary businesses and talent, including restaurants, bakeries, chefs, bartenders and food trucks.
Founded in 2019 by Karinn Chavarria and Warren Luckett, Latin Restaurant Weeks was created to help lend a voice to aspiring and existing Hispanic entrepreneurs and professionals in the culinary industry. Latin Restaurant Weeks began as a one-city food experience in Houston, Texas. To date, it has expanded to Miami and Chicago, encompassing more than 120 Latin-owned culinary businesses and professionals since its inception. The platform serves as an educational tool to demonstrate to local consumers the abundance of cultural cuisine offerings available within their communities, from regions including Mexico, Central America, South America and the Caribbean.
During Latin Restaurant Weeks, guests will be treated to enticing menu specials for brunch, lunch and dinner, as well as tasty cocktail promotions from participating restaurants. Registration for restaurants will be free this year, and each participating business will highlight a signature dish from their menu to showcase the Latin flavors they have to offer. Participating restaurants includes La Catirina, Back Door Monkey, Vacillate Wine Bar, Poke Kai, Laki Bowls, Caja Caliente, Jaguar Restaurant, and so much more! Latin Restaurant Weeks provides the perfect opportunity to try a variety of amazing dishes from different eateries without breaking the bank.
Community partners, the Miami Dolphins, will help support Latin Restaurant Week in many ways, one of which is a pregame activation dedicated to lifting up Latin-owned food trucks. Taking place during the Dolphins vs Texans game on November 7th in the fan activation zone, guests can get the party started early in the South Plaza, where a DJ will provide the tunes while three Latin-owned food trucks will serve up the tasty pregame eats.
This year’s campaign focuses on the road to recovery for the Latinx restaurant industry. In 2020, Latin Restaurant Weeks’ impact on the culinary community included a 20% increase in revenue for participating restaurants in both Houston and Miami during our nation’s most crippling financial period, which hit minority-owned businesses especially hard.
"Miami is a culturally vibrant city with such a unique culinary landscape that we encourage locals to discover at a deeper level,” says Chavarria. “From welcoming food trucks to casual mom-and-pops to exquisite upscale dining, Miami really does run the whole gamut when it comes to Latin-ownership. We are very excited for the second-annual Latin Restaurant Weeks campaign to help even more businesses in South Florida and to continue lending a helping hand from the effects of the pandemic.”
