Offering a truly authentic Italian experience, La Moderna is an authentically Italian restaurant and one- of- a- kind craft cocktail lounge, representing the flavors from the entire country of Italy. Nestled in the heart of Sunset Harbour’s burgeoning food scene, La Moderna introduces its new dining menu and craft cocktail list. Sister restaurants to the Miami favorite Fratelli La Bufala and the famed Splendor Parthenopes in Italy, La Moderna takes its patrons on a journey through Italy indulging in Italian cuisine that has a modern twist.
“Our concept is first of its kind,” says Larry Mele, General Manager at La Moderna. “It is rare to find representative dishes from all over the country of Italy on one menu., Oour food incorporates flavors from Milan all the way to the Southern Italy and everything in between.”
With no specific regional theme, La Moderna’s menu is designed to bring patrons on an adventure through Italy. The recipes are individually selected to complement one another, while providing a well-rounded taste of our La Moderna’s home country. The ingredients used are of the highest quality, and La Moderna’s style of cooking shows the utmost respect to for these Italian flavors. Dishes and ingredients are also used on a seasonal rotation, with the goal of always providing a new and innovative taste. A notable addition to the menu includes the Tagliolino All’ Astice, a savory combination of house-made Tagliolini with half a lobster, cherry tomatoes, thyme and shallots served in one dish. The Sea Bass Al Cartoccio also adds extra zest to La Moderna’s menu, featuring a seared Chilean sea bass served with the complimenting flavors of capers, olives and fresh vegetables.
“Working with the executive chef from Splendor Parthenopes, we were able to create a unique menu that puts a modern twist on old school Italian flavor,” said Mele. “La Moderna’s menu also puts a lot of focus on seafood. We have created a special ‘crudo’ section of raw fish small plates. This is something rarely seen on an Italian menu.”
The restaurant’s cocktail list also tells a story. Each drink is inspired by a specific type of bar patron, infused with Italian flair and Italian ingredients., Tthe bar boasts one of the Miami’s largest collections of Italian liquors. The over-sized bar is also set to host guest bartender series where in which bartenders from across the world will teach cocktail classes and present their carefully crafted cocktails for a limited time throughout the year.
The interior of the space is a contemporary interpretation of a mechanical workshop, and was designed by award-winning Italian architect Roberto Liorni. It features a meticulously crafted copper bar and extensive millwork, which was fabricated in Italy and shipped to Miami. The whimsical art of famous Spanish iIllustrator, Maria Corte, adorns the menus and interior. The name “La Moderna” refers to the boom in manufacturing, innovation and optimism, which that occurred in Italy after World War II.
