Jeff McInnis

Under Jeff McInnis ’ lead (who was nominated for Best Chef:South two years in a row working at Yardbird), Yardbird's chicken became a southern staple on its own, becoming one of the most talked about dishes Miami had seen in many years. Although McInnis is not at Yardbird anymore, the quality of the food has not suffered and it continues to be first-rate. Although Miami is technically a city in a Southern state, we are not particularly known for our comfort food like Georgia, Alabama, and so on. We’re not trying to knock our city, as we are proud of our Latin and Caribbean inspired cuisines, but it can be safe to say that when it comes to dishes like fried chicken, biscuits, and country fried steak, we are not the most apt. That is, until Yardbird Southern Table and Bar came around. By focusing on executing properly-made classic renditions of Southern staples and on providing the hospitality the South has been become famous for extruding, Yardbird has become a dining destination in Miami. The combination of its food, culture, and service turned it into a Semi-Finalist for best new restaurant (2012). When visiting, order Lewellyn’s Fine Fried Chicken, a 27-hour recipe served with chilled watermelon.

Where to try his food: Yardbird Southern Table and Bar. 1600 Lenox Ave Miami Beach, FL 33139. (305) 538-5220
