Chef Michelle Bernstein pop-ups return for exclusive limited engagement. Beloved chef Michelle Bernstein’s Michy’s Pop Up will return for its 3rd year during Art Basel in Miami Beach 2015 at the Miami Beach Botanical Garden, across the street from the Miami Beach Convention Center. The pop-ups – consisting of the Garden Café by Michelle Bernstein, serving breakfast and lunch, and the Michy’s Pop Up restaurant in the evening – will give Art Basel devotees, foodies, locals and visitors a delicious destination for a morning bite, mid-afternoon refreshment or sophisticated dinner while indulging in one of the region’s most glamourous, annual cultural events. “Art Basel's Miami Beach show is a one-of-a-kind event,” says Bernstein, who launched the pop-ups with her husband and business partner David Martinez in 2013 and is the official caterer for Art Basel's Miami Beach events. “There is nothing else like it with a magic uniquely its own. It helped reshape Miami into a serious cultural destination, drawing thousands hungry for art, conversation, engagement and enlightenment. We’re honored to be a part of it.”
The Garden Café by Michelle Bernstein will open on Monday, November 30, serving a diverse menu of breakfast and lunch dishes imbued with Bernstein’s signature style in a casually chic setting complemented by furniture from Moroso and Ruinart umbrellas. Fresh pastries and piping hot gourmet coffee are the perfect jump start; lunch items will include an array of Soups, Sandwiches, Salads and Entrees, many featuring locally-sourced ingredients. Standouts include carrot miso soup with crispy leeks, tomato and burrata salad with arugula, beets and crunchy bread, rotisserie chicken salad sandwich with candied pistachios and dried cranberries on brioche; and Meyer lemon and thyme grilled fresh fish with greens, Cerignola olives and salsa verde. The Garden Café by Michelle Bernstein will feature table service as well as a grab n’ go option.
The Michy’s Pop Up will begin offering dinner service on Wednesday, December 2. Housed inside the Botanical Garden’s Banyan Room as well as on its terrace, it will feature a fresh daily menu, including an array of small plates, as well as a premium bar and an internationally-inspired wine list. Though reservations are required for dinner, the Michy’s Pop Up will be open to walk-ins looking for tapas or a cool, craft cocktail. “When we launched the pop-up in 2013 Michy’s (the chef’s flagship restaurant in Miami) was open and it existed as an extension of that,” Bernstein explains. “In 2015 we closed, remodeled and relaunched Michy’s as CENA, with a new look, concept and menu. The return of Michy’s as a pop-up this year means a lot to us and we’re excited to serve some of Michy’s classics as well as new dishes when we open our doors in December.” Selections many can expect to see on the Michy’s Pop Up menu range from creamy polenta with truffle poached egg and the chef’s famous braised short ribs with roasted root vegetables to fettucine carbonarawith smoked bacon and crispy Jamón Serrano and Greek yogurt panna cotta with watermelon soup, fresh lychees and passion fruit gelée.
The Garden Café by Michelle Bernstein seats 95; the Michy’s Pop Up 120. Both spaces are available for large party bookings or private events. Inquiries should be directed to Carolyn Webb – [email protected]. For reservations to the restaurant, please visit: www.michyspopup.com
