At the Campton Yard, backyard parties and plentiful food are the norm. Located at the Hall South Beach, at the center of the yard is an old banyan tree; one that provides shade for a day of chill vibes, outdoor games, delectable food, and drinking. Lots and lots of drinking.

Helmed by the mind of Top Chef alumn Spike Mendelsohn, the food and libations offered at this South Beach oasis are the perfect accompaniment to the beautiful location. Unpretentious bites are offered to soak up the booze that you will be drinking while playing nostalgic games. Games like ping-pong, corn hole, jenga, and even a giant connect four are scattered throughout the space, inviting patrons to enough the beautiful Miami vibe without the showy-ness that is often associated with it. Make no mistake, this is a place that is catered to locals.

Though the food may be unpretentious, this does not mean that it lacks in any sort of finesse or flavor. Chef Spike grabs the idea of backyard BBQ food and runs with it as he elevates classic staples such as hotdogs and wings to new levels. By getting inspiration from different countries, Spike has managed to somewhat embody Miami’s melting-pot culture as a whole. He transforms the humble hot dog to representations of Miami, Guido, Mexican, and Hawaiian culture. Our obvious favorite was the “Three O’ Five” dog, which is topped with a fried egg, maduros, red onion, habanero peppers, guava BBQ sauce, and pepitas. Other notable bites from the menu include Poutine, a Canadian dish made of french fries, cheese curds, and gravy, the Pretzel, topped with 305 golden ale mustard and chipotle cheese sauce, and Fish Tacos.

The Campton Yard also doesn’t skimp on their cocktails and beers. The Florida-inspired alcohol menu offer hints as to where the bar is located with local fruit syrups and beers being spotted in different drinks. The fact that their happy hours are basically made for post-beach consumption doesn’t hurt either. Whether you’re enjoying these drinks as a refreshment or as a way to get a little rowdy on a weekend, there is something on the menu for everyone.

Next time you’re in South Beach looking for a great way to spend the day, Campton Yard should be at the top of your list. This unassuming and straightforward hangout is just the place South Beach needed, so head over there and have the best weekend you’ve had in a long time.
