Savory, sweet, and sultry, the new brunch has been carefully crafted for enjoyment outdoors on the restaurant’s patio as indoor dining continues to be prohibited in Miami-Dade County.

In keeping with the restaurant’s seafaring spirit – it’s named as a tribute to Ernest Hemingway’s classic novel The Old Man and the Sea, which he wrote while in Cuba – there are an abundance of light, fresh and delicious Crudo offerings. They include coctel de camarones; fresh oysters; and crudito de salmon — salmon sashimi, watermelon sauce, serrano, red onions. Egg dishes include the tortilla Cubana, revoltillo (scrambled eggs), and huevos fritos (fried eggs) with choice of two toppings and a side dish. Also available are huevos benedictos - Cuban Style eggs benedict, creole shrimp stew, corn, petit poi, and sweet plantain hollandaise sauce. Other standout dishes include the Cuban sliders — brioche bun, pork masita confit, jam, cheese, mustard, mayo, pickle and onion; bocadito de pork belly — bao bun, smoked pork belly, pickle mix, spicy paprika aioli; eggs & waffles – Cuban tortilla with choice of toppings; masitas & waffles – bacon jam, caramelized onion, deep fried pork; and chicken & torrejas — brioche torrejas, chicken fingers, herb & onion honey, leeks. Guests seeking a heartier option can order the Hangover Remedy featuring a succulent steak, papa con trufa and eggs.
Brunch libations such as the Sala’o Bloody Mary — house-made mix, vodka, spicy salt, honey-glazed pork belly, rosemary and celery foam; and Bubbles — a selection of French sparkling wine, Moet Imperial Brut or Moet Imperial Rosé with fresh juices, are also available. A 15% discount is applied to all bottles of rosé and sparkling wine (excluding Dom Perignon). There is also a build-your-own feature where diners can construct their own mimosa, Bellini, Rossini or Mangini with an array of add-ons.
Sala’o is located at 1642 SW 8th Street in Miami. Brunch is served on the outdoor patio every Sunday from 11AM to 4PM. Reservations are strongly recommended. Telephone: (305) 642-8989; www.salaorestaurant.com
