ICON Legacy Hospitality and INK Entertainment introduce award-winning Toronto restaurant to Miami
Byblos, which gained immediate success after its Toronto launch, is set to officially open late February, 2015, in the heart of Miami Beach’s hottest dining destination. Taking over two floors of the heritage Shorecrest Building at The James Royal Palm, the 200-seat Byblos is poised to bring diners the vibrant and exciting flavors of the Eastern Mediterranean and become part of Miami’s quickly blossoming culinary scene.
Exploring the bold flavors of Eastern Mediterranean, Byblos will blend time-honored classic cooking techniques with modern methods, to create inspired dishes. Executive Chef Stuart Cameron (Nao, Weslodge and Patria), has created dishes that showcase the regionally-specific spices and flavors crafting a menu that will truly be a coastal and cultural mosaic, served family style in a convivial atmosphere.
“The food will be both authentic yet distinct,” proclaims Executive Chef Stuart Cameron. “We are building on the essence of the tradition, letting them guide us as we create a new methods and develop our unique interpretation to Eastern Mediterranean cuisine.”
Cameron has traveled far and wide, truly immersing himself in flavors that embody the geography of the Eastern Mediterranean coast, The menu will artfully integrate components unique to Florida without losing regional authenticity such as Argan and olive oils. Traditional plates and tea sets will provide a special touch, while local beers and wines will accompany provincial dishes on the menu.
“We are very excited to be opening our first restaurant and lounge outside of Canada in Miami which is considered a cultural hotbed in the U.S.,” says INK Entertainment CEO Charles Khabouth. “Miami is a leading city for hospitality and Byblos will offer a truly unique dining experience that will stimulate and heighten the senses with every aspect of the concept; from the genuinely unique menu selections, to the cocktails and the musical programming.”
In keeping with Levantine culture, mezze, (small plates), will be presented on the menu first with larger dishes following. The dishes will be shared family style, encouraging guests to enjoy an array of flavors over multiple courses. A wide variety of offerings will be featured on the extensive menu ranging from lamb, duck, octopus, a daily selection of fresh fish, as well as many vegetarian options. Byblos will also make their own a la minute rice as well as Barberi, a delicious Turkish bread cooked in a stone oven and served fresh with organic house made Lebnah and a variety of regional fair-trade olive oils.
“We take great inspiration from the different culinary regions we explore; immersing ourselves entirely, sourcing the finest and the most humble ingredients that truly represent the cuisine,” says Icon Legacy CEO Hanif Harji. “But our ambition is to know a place so well that we have the freedom to interpret the experience; presenting it in a way that we hope our guests will enjoy as much as we do.”
The perfect setting to enjoy creative libations, Byblos will offer a progressive beverage program with signature cocktails and a tableside spirit infused cold tea trolley. The restaurant will pair its food with a selection of exclusive beers and wines from around the Eastern Mediterranean coast, highlighting Lebanon, Israel, Spain and Greece. To warm the soul even further, traditional teas, featuring proprietary blends like the Turkish Delight, Moroccan Mint, Hibiscus Rose and the Barbary Coast, are the perfect pairing for any dessert.
In addition to a menu of delicious Mediterranean dishes and a creative beverage program, Byblos will feature a progressively designed space created by internationally renowned, award-winning design firm Munge Leung — the same minds behind Thompson Hotel Seattle, Alibi Cocktail Lounge at Aria Resort & Casino and 1OAK Las Vegas at Mirage Hotel & Casino. Byblos Shorecrest will feature a fresh palette of soft blue, green, crème, off-white tones and whitewashed oak throughout. Bright and colorful artwork will stand out among the light colors, lending to a residential, eclectic and inviting feel that allows guests to feel comfortable enough for a long stay starting with a chat over drinks, dinner and post-dinner drinks in the lounge. The lounge and upper dining level will share the same architectural finishes, but will differ in its heritage elements and terrazzo flooring. The dining level will feature outstanding 17-foot-high ceilings and three walls of accordion-style fabric-wrapped art panels, reminiscent of a residential boudoir screen. This level will also have a geometric mirror and glass feature wall above the bar.
Patrons will feel right at home at Byblos lounge, a newly designed space that feels residential and comfortable, inviting guests to extend their experience. Whether looking to enjoy a late night meal, chat over drinks with friends while enjoying the sophisticated sounds of a DJ or band; the lounge at Byblos is the perfect destination for a complete night out.
Byblos will be open 7 days a week from 5 pm to close.
