There are only a few restaurants that wow me nowadays in Miami - and they do not necessarily need have million dollar chandeliers, in fact, the places that wow me are very much outside the buzz circle that you read and hear all over. Buena Vista Bistro is one of those places that as soon as I walked in with my husband I knew I was welcome. I don't know what it is about this place, maybe the feeling that it is one of the very few places in Miami that will charge you reasonable prices for great food. Let me say that again, it is hard to find a place with reasonable prices in this city, I mean, how much can you charge for a mediocre glass of wine (well, yes, this comes from frustration because it seems that you cannot sit anywhere in Miami without having to pay $15 a glass plus they slap you with the tip included which by the way, the waiter did not even smile, thank you).
If you are out of town, treat yourself to some decent dining and visit Buena Vista Bistro, you'll thank me.
We sat at their tiny bar section this time, it was early in the evening, I am always interested in being closer to the kitchen and hear what servers and the kitchen say, I know, I am weird like that.
The crab cake was delicious, plain and simple, the Italian vinaigrette over the greens was suttle but nice, not too much and not too little - someone knows how to sprinkle a salad around here, I like that.
You cannot leave the area without stopping by at Buena Vista Deli which is right next door and owned by the same people. Above you can see a marvelous chocolate decadent cake and right below it their almond cake. I went for the chocolate one and my husband took the blond one which I don't like it because I have black hair... (that's a joke).
