Brunch at NYY Steak

NYY Steak

As a child, I have fond memories of Mother’s Day morning. My whole family would pile in the car and head to brunch that included all the Alaskan king crab legs, quiche, bacon, potatoes and sweet treats a girl could possibly want. These meals usually took place at ritzy hotels or nice steakhouses, places I do not normally venture to now that I live away from home. Thankfully, I recently had the chance to indulge in an all-you-can-eat brunch once again when invited to experience NYY Steak located inside Seminole Casino Coconut Creek.

When you see “NYY” some South Floridians might not immediately think of New York's iconic sports team; however, upon walking into this restaurant, the baseball theme is evident. Autographs from former Yankees players line the wall, baseball diamond-shaped dishes marked with retired jersey numbers flood the tables, and memorabilia hangs high and proud. While baseball dictates the decor, it's clear that great food is top of mind. More specifically, the dry aged USDA Prime steaks, fresh seafood and rich desserts that I've come to expect from a fine steakhouse.

Brunch on Sundays costs a fixed $60 per person. For that, you get flowing bloody marys and mimosas, along with all the food you can eat from the stations framing the restaurant’s chic dining room featuring a sophisticated open kitchen. Choices include fresh seafood including jumbo shrimp and oysters, carved meats, pancakes, crepes, omelets prepared your way, and a buffet line featuring hot eggs benedict, potatoes, french toast, lamb chops and more.

If that is not enough, their dessert station is certain to put you over the edge. I noshed on rich and authentic New York cheesecake, tart Floridian key lime pie, soft French macarons, and longingly wished I had a second stomach to try all the brownies, cookie sandwiches and more that were tempting my sweet tooth.

I recently read an article touting brunch as being “overrated.” Well, I simply do not agree. At the end of a long week, I love spending my Sunday morning relaxing with friends, sipping on mimosas and chowing down until I ease into a peaceful afternoon food coma. If you’re like me and also find brunch anything but overrated, you must try NYY Steak at Seminole Casino Coconut Creek.
