Ever since its inception a year ago, Uvaggio Wine Bar has impressed Miami with a playful demeanor in its culinary offerings and an impactful wine selection that no one else comes close to matching. Today, the restaurant celebrated its one year anniversary by throwing an event representative of their attempt to become a neighborhood favorite. The birthday party, aptly named “BBQ, Blue, and Booze Bash,” lived up to the Uvaggio name, giving those who attended a perfect evening to indulge in worthwhile food, drinks, and music.
Guests were invited to join the refined yet, relaxed restaurant for their birthday bash. Ticket proceeds benefited the Buckhams, a family whose young daughter, Isabella, was recently diagnosed with Wilm’s Tumor. Although it has been removed, she has been fighting with chemotherapy since late November 2014.
At the Bash, Uvaggio followed through with its concept of serving comfort food in a sophisticated way. Offerings, served family-style of course, included smoked duck, fried chicken, biscuits, hot dogs, potato salad, and slaw amongst others. The star of the show was easily the fried chicken, being perfectly brined and combined with a slightly spicy seasoned flour that made for a flavorful and succulent bite. I honestly believe that if this chicken were to make it onto Uvaggio’s menu as a staple, it would become for competition to the likes of more famous fried chicken in the city, i.e. Yardbird. To accompany the food, Uvaggio offered wine comparable to the ones that are offered on their menu and beer on tap from J. Wakefield and Biscayne Brewing.
The lively atmosphere emanating from the party was evident through the smiles on everyones’ faces. People playing corn hole and beer pong led to booming laughter spreading throughout the back of the restaurant, and a good time was had by all. The live band, playing mostly blues to the likes of Jimi Hendrix and Led Zeppelin, was absolutely incredible and only added to the already dynamic ambiance.
Uvaggio’s success is already cemented through the people that they have touched and the wonderful turnout from their first year in business. It is without question that Uvaggio will continue to impact Miami’s dining scene like it has in the past year. If they have been able to accomplish all that they have in only twelve months, the city should be excited about what Uvaggio has to offer in years to come.
