It was Wednesday night and I invited a friend to the Burgundy Room in Coconut Grove. This is a neighborhood I rarely visit but every time I am here I remind myself that I should come here more often. I like Coconut Grove, I like that it has a feel of an old town neighborhood to it – and there are plenty of restaurants to choose from ato make it a night out. This time I visited the Burgundy Room because I heard they serve very good burgers. The place reminds me of Irish bars in San Francisco, it is dark inside and has a piano in the middle of the room. It also has very good sitting outside at the balcony, you will be overlooking one of the main streets in Coconut Grove and you can just watch people walking by –  which is one of my favorites things to do when I have a glass of wine in hand.

Pulled Pork Guava BBQ Sandwich

I choose this item from the menu instead of a burger because I couldn’t resist not to try a Guava BBQ sauce. When this dish arrived to the table we had to make room as it is huge! The fried were perfect and the pulled pork with guava sauce was to die for. It’s slow roasted pork shoulder, tossed with guava BBQ sauce and piled high on a toasted ciabatta bun.

By the time we were leaving a whole band was setting back to play; two singers, piano player, and other instruments. The evening with my friend was pleasant and the service at the Burgundy Room was exceptional, the waitress smiled the entire evening, she had the timing down by not interrupting yet having everything served hot. My friend ordered a martini that was huge, just the way she likes it!
