New Date Set For Tuesday, November 23

WHAT: Due to an inclement weather forecast, Shops at Merrick Park has postponed tonight’s “Back to Tradition” 18th Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony sponsored by Nicklaus Children’s Hospital. The holiday celebration date has been moved to Tuesday, November 23.

The retail destination will transform into a winter wonderland with its 50-foot tree-lighting and Santa’s grand arrival down San Lorenzo Avenue on the Coral Gables Fire Department’s fire truck. South Florida’s own Preston Howell, a contestant on NBC’s The Voice will serenade attendees with holiday favorites. The Miami Royal Ballet and Coral Gables Senior High School Gablettes will add to the festive spirit along with holiday costumed characters and a photo booth.

Special guest host Belkys Nerey, award-winning co-anchor of WSVN Channel 7 News, will help flip the magical switch along with Coral Gables Mayor Vince Lago to illuminate the tree, signaling the official start of the holiday shopping season.

Attendees are encouraged to spread the warmth of the season and bring unwrapped toys for children in care of Nicklaus Children’s Hospital.

WHEN: New date is set for Tuesday, November 23, from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m.
