Summer nights often equate to less time spent in the kitchen – they don’t call it the lazy days of summer for nothing! But as we all know, dining out regularly can get pricey. Executive chef/owner David Bracha of Oak Tavern has come up with the perfect solution – Sundays through Thursdays all evening long, visitors to his convivial indoor/outdoor Design District hangout can enjoy specially-priced Plats Du Jour menu selections.
“I know what it’s like to want to go out for a nice meal without spending a small fortune,” offered Bracha. “If its Monday night and you don’t feel like eating at home, what are your options for a delicious, moderately priced dinner? I came up with the idea of offering a special dish Sundays through Thursdays, exclusively available those nights, created specifically for diners who want to enjoy a relaxed evening out without breaking the bank.”
The Plats du Jour range from $15 to $21. Menu breakdown follows:
Sunday “Gravy” $18
House-made meatballs, sausage and rigatoni
Duck confit with braised cabbage and duck fat fried potatoes
Bahamian-style fried snapper served with Scotch bonnet vinaigrette
Fried chicken with mashed potatoes, collard greens, and biscuits with gravy
