Miami Diner
Miami Diner, The classic-American retro eatery serves breakfast all day and is open 24 hours every weekend
The team behind Meraki Greek Bistro has opened their second restaurant in Downtown Miami on Monday, November 30: Miami Diner, a modern interpretation of the classic American diner serving an extensive menu of comfort dishes with an emphasis on ‘made-from-scratch’ meals and quality ingredients. From the retro Americana design heavily influenced by the vibrant city of Miami and one of the few restaurants in Miami to be open 24 hours on the weekend, Miami Diner will encompass everything that an old-school diner has to offer and aims to bring reasonably priced comfort food with consistent service in a retro setting.
“My partners and I wanted to bring a classic American diner experience to Downtown Miami. Everything is so international in this vibrant and diverse city, but we wanted to bring affordable and unpretentious cuisine to the Downtown area,” said Alex Karavias, managing partner of Miami Diner. Alex’s partner Giannis Kotsos is the executive chef overseeing the menu and kitchen while their partner Ivan Kolev will oversee day-to-day operations as general manager.
The classic American diner is traditionally known as a melting pot of people and is reflected in the menu filled with homey comfort food – with a Miami twist. When you’re in the mood for ease and comfort, Miami Diner will offer a wide range of mostly classic American dishes separated into a number of categories including: a selection of Eggs Benedict Platters; Classic Omelets; Miami Diner Originals such as the Miami Waffle Omelet with mushrooms, carrots and tomatoes cooked into the shape of a waffle and Huevos 305 featuring avocado topped with grilled shrimp and fried egg; Waffles like the decadent Miami Waffle with Oreo cookies, walnuts, Nutella, bananas, chocolate syrup, and vanilla ice cream and Breakfast Sides including the daily Potato Souffle; Appetizers like classic jalapeño poppers and fried mushrooms; Burgers made with a choice of beef or homemade chicken patties; Sub Sandwiches from the classic pastrami and Italian to fresh crab and Philly cheesesteak; Salads like the Greek-inspired Halloumi Green Salad and Entrees like Salmon Filet Skewers and Miami Spice Chicken Keftes; and Pasta dishes like the Veggie and Meat lasagna.
The Milkshake Menu will feature a selection of classic and premium milkshakes like the Munchies Milkshake, CBD oil-infused with mint and chocolate chip ice cream topped with whipped cream, chocolate chips, and fudgy brownie or mint chocolate Kit Kat bar and the Guayaba y Queso Crema Milkshake with guava and cream cheese ice cream topped with whipped cream and mango guava cheesecake. Classic soda floats are also available.
Umbria Coffee is offered at Miami Diner with a selection of coffee creations available for table service as well as at the walk-up coffee counter to serve the Downtown community their caffeine fix.
Miami Diner has a selection of craft local beer brews as well as an international wine list. A full-service bar with liquor will launch later this winter including a Bloody Mary bar. Each day will offer a new lunch special for $9.99 as well as a weekly milkshake special. Dine and drink in yesteryear with all-day breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily as well as a weekend brunch.
Upon entry, guests are greeted by a custom “Greetings From Miami” postcard-inspired mural by local artist Cliff Johnson. A refurbished Seeburg jukebox is worked into the design of the mural as well. Heavily influenced by the vibrant spirit of America from the 1950s through the 80s, the vibe is distinctly classic too: think black and white checkered flooring, charming vintage flair and custom murals adorning the walls, vibrant turquoise vinyl bar stools and chairs, and neon LED lights inside and out for the ultimate vintage American diner experience. The 1,300 square foot restaurant has 65 seats inside plus an additional 25 on the patio space outside. Black vinyl booths inside, bar stools, and outdoor dining space offer the perfect to share a meal with friends in a delightfully casual and nostalgic atmosphere. The classic American diners often feature an exterior layer of stainless steel siding—a feature unique to diner architecture and Miami Diner is no exception.
