Contemporary Pan-Latin Steakhouse Introduces New Food & Drink Items for Brunch, Lunch, Dinner and Happy Hour

Toro Toro, renowned chef/restaurateur Richard Sandoval’s inventive, Pan-Latin contemporary steakhouse, has been earning rave reviews by foodies and locals since it premiered last fall. The sleek, sexy restaurant and lounge, located on the lobby level of the InterContinental Miami hotel, is now unveiling a wide array of new food and drink offerings for brunch, lunch, dinner and Happy Hour, beautifully executed by executive chef Reuven Sugarman.

Already wildly popular with locals and tourists alike, the restaurant’s famed Brunch with Bravado has become the Bottomless Brunch. Every Saturday and Sunday, for just $35 per person, guests can enjoy unlimited small plates and free flowing brunch cocktails such as mimosas, bloody marys, bloody marias and micheladas. New offerings included on the Bottomless Brunch menu are Chef’s Specialties including beef barbacoa grilled cheese – braised shortrib, toasted brioche, bel paese and aji rocoto salsa; huevos rancheros – pan fried egg, black beans, tortilla and chipotle tomato sauce; and achiote BBQ salmon – chayote squash, bacon, mushrooms and achiote ponzu sauce.

An exciting new addition to Toro Toro’s extensive lunch menu is the Tokapu Box – a three-course meal served Bento Box-style. Priced at $17, diners can choose from a small plate such as chicharron de camarones, causa Toro Toro, or the ceviche del dia; a soup or salad – sopa de frijoles or Homestead Farms baby greens salad, among others; and an entrée selection – pollo a la brasa, achiote BBQ salmon or arroz chaufa. The churrasco platter, with cuts of picanha, Omaha ribeye, lamb chop, chorizo sausage and achiote chicken, is available for an additional $10.

Happy Hour at Toro Toro just got a little happier with new summer cocktails and an expanded bar bites menu. Offered at $5 per dish, additions to the restaurant’s Happy Hour bites menu include tuna taco – spicy tuna tartar, guacamole, pickled onions and crispy wonton; short rib coca flatbread with Manchego cheese, horseradish and arugula; and chicharron de camarones – crispy shrimp, aji Amarillo, avocado and rocoto mint salsa. Along with these savory bites are the restaurant’s inventive Latin cocktails. Guests can sip on a Honey Bee Pisco Sour ($12) – vanilla infused Capurro Pisco, honey, lemon, egg whites and bitters; Ahumado ($14) – Mezcal Vida, Solerno Blood Orange Liqueur, bell pepper, lime, agave, blood orange and a jalapeno ice cube; and Lavender Hemingway ($14) – Bacardi Superior, lime, lavender simple syrup, grapefruit and Luxardo Maraschino Liqueur. The new Cocteles de Casa or “house cocktails” include the Toro Roll ($14) – Hendrick’s Gin, Sake, cucumber, ginger, lime and wasabi salt; Strawberry Fields ($12) – rhubarb tea, strawberry, basil, Cava and basil foam; and a Hudson Barrel Aged Cocktail, which will change monthly.

The restaurant’s mouthwatering dinner menu features an array of new small plates such as causa Toro Toro ($9) – mashed yellow potato cake, smoked trout, avocado and kabayaki sauce; coctel de camarones ($12) with salsa Ecuatoriana, crispy malanga and avocado; seared ahi tuna tiradito salad ($16) with baby greens, avocado, spring onion, ginger and lemon wasabi vinaigrette; arroz chaufa ($8) – fried rice, chicken, chorizo, steak, eggs and vegetables; and sopa de frijoles ($7) – black bean soup with salsa criolla. New entrées include gambas a la parilla ($28) – jumbo prawns, garlic, parsley, aji rocoto and grilled bread; pastel de ostras ($21) – oysters, corn crust, creole remoulade and herb salad; and pollo a la brasa ($24) – grilled achiote chicken, mofongo, cabbage slaw and mojo crema fresca.

Ending the dining experience on a sweet note, Toro Toro’s pastry chef, Jose Luis Flores, has crafted some decadent new desserts. Diners can indulge in pastelito de guayaba ($8) – guava foam, cream cheese ice cream, tropical fruit salpicon; cortadito ($8) – chocolate-coffee mousse, orange scented brownie, pistachio ice cream; and Toro Toro tres leches ($8) – soaked genoise cake, dulce de leche, strawberry coconut sorbet.
