Two Local Favorites Team Up To Create Miami’s Ultimate Dessert!

Morelia Gourmet Paletas, also known as Paletas Morelia, collaborates with Andrew Gonzalez of Night Owl Cookies, Miami’s first late-night Cookies and Milk, on a limited-edition run of Guava Cheesecake paletas. The new flavor is available starting Friday, October 1st at all Paletas Morelia locations in South Florida and Charlotte, NC.

Morelia Gourmet Paletas teamed up with Miami’s go-to cookie shop, Night Owl Cookies, to create the ultimate, deliciously sweet paleta, combining Morelia’s decadent cheesecake paleta base with Night Owl’s fan-favorite Ave Maria guava cookie. The cheesecake base is the same Morelia uses for its Strawberry Cheesecake Paleta, but this time, it gets the tropical Miami treatment. The limited-edition paleta is filled with the same gooey guava jam that’s pumped into every Ava Maria cookie, while the base is coated with bits and pieces of the cookie itself. In just one bite, guests are treated to the best of both worlds. And at the Charlotte location, locals will be able to get a mouthwatering taste of a Miami dessert staple. This collaboration brings together two iconic dessert shops to create a one-of-a-kind treat for just a limited time.

“It is fascinating to see how two local businesses in Miami can work together on a collaboration to bring a delicious product to the Miami community, and Charlotte,” said Alex Kassab, co-founder of Morelia Gourmet Paletas. “Night Owl Cookies and Morelia Gourmet Paletas are two of the leading dessert brands in Miami and we decided to combine the two desserts to create the Guava Cheesecake Paleta. This is the first collab we’re doing with Night Owl and definitely something you don’t want to miss out on!”

As always, whether enjoyed by itself or paired with extra fun dippings and toppings like White Chocolate, Cookie Butter, Coconut flakes, Oreo Crumbs, or Sprinkles, guests will be able to create their own paleta experience just the way they want. Ultra-portable paletas can also be taken anywhere: indoors, outdoors, at home, at work. No matter the place, the Best Ice Cream Experience awaits.

At the age of 20, Night Owl Cookies founder Andrew Gonzalez began brainstorming ideas to enhance the Miami dessert scene. Wanting to deliver warm, homemade cookies to his local community, he launched Night Owl while a student at Miami Dade Community College. Gonzalez opened up his first location within walking distance of Florida International University and since then, his concept grew with the help of social media, food bloggers, and media outlets such as Forbes, NBC News, LA Times, and The Miami Herald, to name a few. Not only are his cookies well known in the Tri-City area, but they are also Instagram-famous. Some of his signature creative treats include Cookies and Cream, Dirty Diana, Ave Maria, Rainbow Over Bedrock, Sugar Daddy, and more.

“As a first-generation Cuban-American, I’ve grown up on guava and cream cheese,” said Gonzalez. “They are so iconic for Miami and the Hispanic and LatinX culture, so being able to partner with another local LatinX owned business such as Paleta Morelia. And to fuse our two products together to create a mouth-watering treat for Hispanic heritage month is what Night Owl Cookies is all about.”

Made from scratch daily in Hollywood, Morelia Gourmet Paletas produces in small batches using local ingredients of the highest quality, making its paleta a delicious treat for any occasion. Since its first store opening in Coral Gables in 2016, Morelia Gourmet Paletas has worked hard to create the best ice cream experience in Miami. The chain now has locations in Coral Gables, Wynwood, Surfside, Hollywood, FL, Aventura Commons, South Beach, Coconut Grove, Doral, Boca Raton, and Charlotte, North Carolina. The ice cream shop is well on its way to bringing the best ice cream experience to the world.

About Morelia Gourmet Paletas

Morelia came to life when a group of friends living in Brazil had the opportunity to try Mexican paletas‘ for the first time. The friends loved the large, hand-made, 100-percent-natural artisanal popsicles so much that they decided to make their own. The first Morelia location opened in October 2016 in Miami, a city chosen for its cultural diversity, trendsetting ambiance, and amazing weather. The founders chose the name “Morelia” because it is the capital city of the State of Michoacán in Mexico. It is believed the first paletas originated there when people added fresh fruit to ice as a refreshing escape from the hot weather. Paletas Morelia currently has South Florida locations in Coral Gables, Wynwood, Surfside, Hollywood, FL, Aventura Commons, South Beach, Coconut Grove, Doral, Boca Raton, and, most recently, Charlotte, North Carolina. The ice cream shop is well on its way to achieving its goal of bringing the best ice cream experience to the world.
