The first female to win a James Beard Award in Miami, Michelle Bernstein is a popular local chef known for her Latin-style flavors of cooking. She was awarded the Best Chef:South Award in 2008, through her restaurant Michy’s in Miami’s Design District. This restaurant is still in operation today, but at the end of 2014, Michelle Bernstein plans to convert it into another concept. She also opened Crumb on Parchment, a cozy café in the same neighborhood as her namesake restaurant.
