Another Miami chef to claim winning a James Beard Award is Michael Schwartz, founder and leader of the Genuine Hospitality Group. Through his first venture, Michael’s Genuine in Midtown, Schwartz brought the concept of sustainable farm-to-table dining to Miami, which helped him win the Best Chef:South award in 2010. He also owns and operates Harry’s Pizzeria, The Cypress Room, and Restaurant Michael Schwartz at the Raleigh. Because of his continued efforts in enhancing Miami’s culinary scene, he was also a semifinalist for the 2014 Outstanding Chef award.
