Ring in the New Year oceanside at Fort Lauderdale’s iconic Mexican hotspot Lona Cocina & Tequileria. On Friday, December 31 from 8PM to 2AM, Lona is bidding adieu to 2021 with a speciality a la carte New Year’s Eve menu with a Mexican twist, live music and drink specials. Upon arrival, guests will be treated to a complimentary chilled tequila shot served from a sugar skull ice sculpture. The menu, created by Chef Jorge Gutierrez, features 2022 Lobster Nachos – Mexican guajillo cheese, butter-poached Maine lobster, red onions, cilantro and beans ($26); New Year’s Fajitas – champagne, grilled octopus, pan-seared grouper, shrimp scampi, onion and sweet peppers ($32); My Last Taco – steak angus Arrachera, grilled jalapeño pepper, pickled carrots and avocado ($19); and Guayaba Tamal – guava masa, cream cheese, corn leaf, crema fresca and cotija cheese ($12). At midnight, guests will toast to 2022 with a glass of Taittinger champagne or a Lona-style shot of Espolón tequila in a custom shot glass made of ice. The festivities will be accompanied by party favors, a live DJ spinning jams from 10PM to 2AM and a dance floor setup on the restaurant’s new Tequila Terrace. Reservations can be made on OpenTable.
