La Traila BBQ Miami’s genuine Texas-style craft barbecue pit spot, is set to open its first brick n’ mortar location May 2021. Founded by Austin native and pit master Mel Rodriguez and Miami native/Buffalo Bills Wide Receiver Isaiah McKenzie, the hotly-anticipated BBQ hotspot will be located in Miami Lakes. The opening will signal La Traila brand’s first permanent home to date; it has only existed as a “first come, first served” style pop-up, a holy grail-ish “must try” for local BBQ enthusiasts. Smoked to absolute perfection, BBQ lovers can expect items like Brisket Sundae with a mac and cheese base then layered with baked beans and cream corn then topped with smoked brisket, cotija cheese, crema and house sauce; platters and meat by the pound like Smoked Pulled Pork, Smoked Sausage, Pork Spare Ribs and Texas Style Brisket; and for some Miami and Texas fusion – Brisket y Queso Empanadas and Smoked Pork Rib Croquettes. Sides will include cookout specials such as Mac n Cheese and Baked Beans. Beer and wine selections will be on offer. Takeout will also be available and catering options are offered upon request. The Festival has created a BBQ Lovers package which couples the BBQ Dinner with the Moët & Chandon BubbleQ. The event’s second session will take place on Saturday, May 22 at 9PM and will feature America’s most fearless pitmasters and grill maestros to form a collective of 24 chefs roasting their creations low and slow on the beach. In honor of National BBQ Month, The Taurus is bringing back Johnnie’s Pit Beef & BBQ, the Maryland-style BBQ pop-up by Chefs Phillip Bryant and Veronica Valdivia. Through the month of May, guests can flock to Coconut Grove to enjoy a rotating selection of BBQ ribs. Every weekend, Johnnie’s will serve up a different style of rib (Memphis Style Spare Rib, Baby Back Ham Ribs, Ribeye Back Ribs etc.) every Friday-Sunday from 5PM-11PM. Diners can pair their BBQ ribs with one of Taurus’ handcrafted cocktails, or enjoy with a beer in hand. Of course, Taurus’ a la carte menu will also be on offer.
