James Beard Foundation Celebrates the Chinese New Year with Miami’s Blackbrick Chinese and Wynwood Brewing
Renowned chef Richard Hales will be preparing an Asian feast to ring in the Year of the Sheep with brews from Wynwood Brewing
The Year of the Sheep will be celebrated at the James Beard Foundation with an incredible Asian feast prepared by renowned chef Richard Hales from Miami’s Blackbrick Chinese and accompanied by the brews of Wynwood Brewing Company. The dinner will be on Thursday, February 19 at 7 p.m. at The Beard House located at 167 W 12th Street, New York. Tickets are $130 for members / $170 for general public. The menu is available here.
Chef Richard Hales has been invited by the James Beard Foundation to present a succulent menu to celebrate the Chinese New Year. Hales has designed a delicious feast inspired by the Year of the Sheep. To match the dishes Hales has included Wynwood Brewing award-winning Pop’s Porter and the brewery’s collaboration with Blackbrick’s owner Richard Hales – the Comfortably Numb Pilsner. The feast will include traditional chinese tea service by Jojo Tea and end with Azucar Ice Cream and with Panther Coffee, also from Miami.
“It’s a great honor to be included in Richard’s James Beard dinner and to be able to present Pop’s Porter and the Comfortably Numb Pilsner to pair with the amazing Asian feast being prepared by him.” said Luis Brignoni, who will be traveling to New York for the event.
Chef Richard Hales is the mastermind behind Miami’s Blackbrick Chinese, Sakaya Kitchen, and the Dim Ssam a gogo food truck. Last year Blackbrick Chinese was honored as part of Bon Appetit Magazine’s America’s Best New Restaurants.
Wynwood Brewing Company opened its doors in 2013 as the first production craft brewery in the City of Miami . In September 2014, the brewery’s Pop’s Porter (Robust Porter) won a gold medal in the most prestigious competition for American beer – the Great American Beer Festival.
