HALVES & WHOLES, A MODERN SANDWHICH SHOP OPENS AS PART OF MENIN HOSPITALITY’S ALTON ROAD EXPANSION
Menin Hospitality is introducing their latest fast-casual concept, Halves & Wholes (H & W). The elevated sandwich shop will open its doors in August 2016 across from Menin’s ultra-popular Bodega Taqueria y Tequila and soon-to-open Ricky’s. Lead by Menin Hospitality’s Corporate Culinary Director, Chef Bernie Matz, the shop will offer classic sandwiches with a Miami twist.
Inspired by America’s classic sandwiches and shops across the country, Chef Matz will showcase “12 Best” sandwiches along with a custom sandwich option for guests to let their wildest sandwich dreams come true. Each sandwich will be an experience in and of itself, loaded with meats roasted in-house using a vertical broiler, artisanal cheeses and secret homemade sauces. Holding the sandwiches together will be a selection of custom-baked breads shipped daily from the famous Delray Beach bakery, Old School. The intimate 36-seat café style shop will be the perfect setting for lunch, a late night bite, takeout, delivery and catering.
Menu highlights include the Cheese Steak shaved rib eye, jalapeno jack whiz, provolone, sofrito, crispy onions, sesame baguette; The Fritaloaf chorizo meatloaf, habanero jack, arugula, tomato, potato sticks, garlic parm aioli; and the Pan con Italian Beef short rib, charred onions, provolone, giardenara, potato sticks, cumin-garlic aioli, sesame baguette. In addition to the “12 Best” sandwiches, daily specials will enhance the menu and introduce new limited-run creations. H & W will also offer a small selection of soups, salads and homemade ice cream sandwiches and sundaes. H & W’s impressive beverage list will include local craft beers from MIA Brewing Co. and Funky Buddha Brewery, Flip Flop Wines’ Fizzy Sangria and soft drinks.
Take out and delivery will be available along with H & W’s catering program called “Picnic Like A Pro.” Diners have the option of a to-go box and mix and match local craft beer six packs, perfect for a day at the beach or on a boat.
Designed by Menin’s in-house creative team, H & W incorporates elements from classic sandwich shops of the Northeast, from the white subway tiles set to flank the backsplash to the ornate hammered tin ceiling panels and mismatched black brushed steel lighting elements. Vintage glass deli cases, butcher block walls and exposed Edison bulbs will give the space a modern, updated take on classic sub shop design while the brown and white striped awnings outside welcome guests into H & W.
Halves & Wholes will be located at 1600 Alton Road. The restaurant will be open for lunch, dinner and late night dining seven days a week. Hours of operation will be: 12:00 p.m. – 5:00 a.m.
