Chef Andrew Carmellini, of the wildly popular restaurants The Dutch in SoHo and Miami Beach, will appear on LIVE! with Kelly on Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at 9:00 a.m. EST. The segment is part of “Holiday Feast Week” and will feature a live cooking demonstration by Carmellini in which the Chef will prepare Braised Beef Short Ribs with Guinness and Winter Coleslaw from his new cookbook, American Flavor.
American Flavor is a rich and diverse tour through the ingredients and cuisines that constitute American cooking. Using traditional foodways and the multicultural neighborhoods, global eateries and ethnic groceries that dot the American landscape as his inspiration, Carmellini introduces delicious and innovative food that is accessible to home cooks and serious chefs alike. Much of the book harks back to Carmellini’s life on the open road, eating his way through small towns with big flavors across this vast country. Many times a year, these family trips were between home in Cleveland, Ohio and his grandparents’ home in Little River, Florida, where fruit trees were bountiful.
