miami restaurant news

Boia De, Alex Meyer and Luciana Giangrandi’s James Beard Award-nominated (semifinalist 2020) Miami restaurant has once again shifted its operation model to comply with recently announced Miami-Dade County restaurant restrictions. The beloved restaurant will now be offering outdoor dining, a new takeout menu including some coveted specials, as well as continuing to operate its larder featuring hard-to-find, homemade and imported items.

Boia De has taken over the sidewalk in front of the restaurant and expanded its outdoor seating to now seat 19 guests at socially-distant tables and the restaurant’s ventanita counter. The alfresco dining area is covered by the shopping center’s awning, allowing for shade and shelter from South Florida’s sultry summer weather. Boia De has also set up a flexible, socially distant outdoor area for guests waiting for takeout orders, enjoying a glass of wine or walk-in diners waiting to be seated, though reservations are highly encouraged.

Takeout options have been revamped to offer a limited version of Boia De’s current dinner menu. Highlights include staples such as the Pappardelle Alla Lepre with rabbit, rosemary and tomato; Cannellini Beans with parmesan broth, clams, guanciale and maltagliati; Lamb Ribs with peaches, parsley, yogurt and lamb jus; Tagliolini Nero with King Crab, vin jaune, truffle and herbs; and Luci’s Chopped Salad. Dessert options are also available for takeout and include Frice Ice Cream Pints; Carrot Cake with lemon whip and ginger ice cream; and Tiramisu.

Two takeout-only sandwich specials will be offered during dinner hours – a Muffuletta and an Eggplant Parmesan Sandwich. Beginning on Sunday, July 19, the famed La Pollita Fried Chicken Sandwich will be available for takeout on Sundays only beginning at 12PM.

The restaurant’s larder continues to operate, helping loyal customers find quality ingredients during this challenging time. Specialty items for sale include a wide selection of natural wines; Boia De’s salad dressings – ranch, garlic vinaigrette, green goddess and blue cheese; signature vegetables such as house-made marinated eggplant and Julie’s Pikliz (spicy pickled cabbage, peppers and onions, made in house by Boia De’s prep cook, Julie) are available, as are a variety of cheeses including locally produced Stracciatella, Midnight Moon aged goat cheese and sliced provolone. Hard-to-find and imported items like black truffle pate, kewpie mayo and guanciale; and high-quality pantry essentials such as pasta, eggs, corn starch, vinegar, butter and more are also available for purchase at Boia De’s larder.

Boia De is located at 5205 NE 2nd Avenue in Little Haiti. The restaurant is open Wednesday through Monday from 5:30PM until 10PM; closed on Tuesdays. Reservations are highly encouraged and can be made through Resy.com, at www.boiaderestaurant.com or by phone at (305) 967-8866. The larder is open from 11AM until 10PM on the same days. Takeout and larder orders can be placed on the restaurant’s website.
