Whole Foods Market sure knows how to throw a party! To showcase the new look of the store, Whole Foods Market South Beach will host a Grand Reopening Celebration, beginning on Wednesday, May 2; the store will host an array of activities for all ages – store-wide vendor sampling, grand reopening specials and savings, live music, guided tours, a fashion exhibit and much more. During the festivities, customers will also have the chance to win a $500 pantry makeover by signing up for the Whole Foods Market newsletter in the cafe. The four-day long bash will culminate with a lively Cinco de Mayo Fiesta on Saturday, May 5.
“We’re offering the South Beach community an even better store,” said Santiago Heredia, Whole Foods Market Store Team Leader. “We’ve listened to the community and have designed and enhanced the store in order to thoroughly delight and meet our customers’ needs with our number one goal being to provide South Beach and the surrounding communities with the freshest, most flavorful, and highest quality products, while delivering superior value all throughout our newly remodeled store.”
On Wednesday, May 2 the celebration kicks-off with Grand Reopening Celebration Day. Eager early-bird customers will enjoy a complimentary continental breakfast, which will be served in the parking lot beginning at 7 a.m. There will be live music onsite to entertain guests. At 7:45 a.m., a Bread Breaking Ceremony, Whole Foods Markets’ twist on the traditional ribbon cutting ceremony, will take place. The first lucky 200 customers will receive a reusable bag filled with goodies. Guided tours of the revitalized store will be held at 9 a.m. and again at 7 p.m. An exciting Capoeira demonstration – a Brazilian martial art that combines dance and music – will occur at 8 a.m. and 8 p.m.
The festivities continue with Green Mission Day on Thursday, May 3. Whole Foods Market will give away 100 reusable bottles to the day’s first customers. All day long, the store will host a 5% Day benefiting Urban GreenWorks, a non-profit organization that provides environmental and food security programs to underserved communities including habitat restoration, educational services, and job training as well as garden programs for community centers, schools, colleges, rehab centers, and prisons. Kids ages 3+ are invited to attend the Composting for Kids demo, from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m., led by Fertile Earth Foundation, where they will learn how to build their own worm bin; pre-registration is required. For the ladies, a do-it-yourself beauty products class will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Friday, May 4 is Community Partners Day. Local vendors will be at the store showcasing their products. Whole Foods Market will also give away hemp hats or visors to the first 100 customers of the day. A guided tour of the store will take place at 11 a.m. followed by a check presentation at 1 p.m. to Conscious Acts of Kindness. Joshua’s Foundation will be onsite accepting donations of new backpacks from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. A Capoeira demonstration will be held at 5 p.m. and again at 7 p.m., followed by Haute Cookture’s Fashion Exhibit and Tasting, featuring DJ Golden Del, at 8 p.m.
Get ready for an authentic Mexican party! Join Whole Foods Market in South Beach for a Cinco de Mayo Fiesta on Saturday, May 5. There will be face painting and a live mariachi band onsite to delight and entertain customers of all ages. A cake-cutting celebration featuring two delicious cakes – including a raw vegan cake – will commence at 11 a.m. Learn how to cook healthy recipes at the Mexican-themed Health Starts Here cooking class, beginning at 2 p.m. Whole Foods Market will also give away jute bags to the first 100 customers of the day.
Customers who attend the Grand Reopening Celebration will be able to check out some of the new features the store has to offer such as the locally made gelato bar by Muse Gelato, offering 12 delicious flavors; the hot bar which offers breakfast daily, from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.; and a salad bar with over 20 different fresh ingredients. Always on a mission to stay green, Whole Foods Market South Beach has installed skylights throughout the store and solar panels on the roof to minimize the use of electricity. Additional indoor/outdoor seating has also been implemented. Along with these improvements, the store will now employ a fulltime in-house Healthy Eating Specialist able to guide customers on making wise food choices, give cooking demonstrations and be an overall resource for the community.
