This exciting project dates back to the 19th century, when the wine was
made in the underground cellars in the homes of the families of the current
owners. In 1986, a group of brave entrepreneurs were driven by the spirit
of innovation that prevailed in a region where the first signs of its superb
potential to produce Quality and modern wines, could be seen thanks to the
soil and favorable climate. Therefore they decided to band together to build
Vinicola de Tomelloso. Since then they have been driven in making and
marketing Quality wines.
Nowadays, the winery produces about 7 million liters of white wine and 4
million liters of red wine and has a capacity for producing 3 million bottles
per year. Several of its wines have reached international recognition, for
example: Vinicola de Tomelloso received 5 medals in the San Francisco
International Wine Competition, including a Gold Medal and the Best Nation
Wine award.
