Since opening in October 2012, Toro Toro has drawn raves for its ultra-modern setting and innovative Pan-Latin steakhouse cuisine by acclaimed Chef Richard Sandoval. Located on the lobby level of the eclectic InterContinental Miami, the restaurant recently introduced a not-to-be-missed "Brunch with Bravado," offering endless eats and unlimited cocktails.
Available every Sunday from 11:30 a.m. until 3 p.m., Toro Toro’s brunch menu offers an endless collection of small plates highlighting Sandoval’s delectable, Latin-style brunch specialties as well as a serving of grilled meats cooked to perfection on the rodizio. The brunch menu is priced at $49 per person with cocktails and $39 per person with non-alcoholic beverages. Children under 12 years of age pay $19.50 and 5 and under pay $5; all menus exclude tax and gratuity.
The menu includes margaritas, mimosas, mojitos, Caipirinhas, Pisco Sours, and micheladas, a traditional Mexican beer-based cocktail made with fresh squeezed lime juice. All brunch menus are ideally designed for groups; therefore, the entire table must participate with a two hour limit per table. A la carte menu offerings, including dessert and signature cocktail selections are available as add-ons at an additional charge.
Definite must-haves include: caramelized bacon guacamole served with tortilla chips; smoked salmon coca flatbread topped with scrambled eggs; chilaquiles de pollo in a green tomatillo sauce and a short rib arepa "Benedict." A bevy of sides abound with selections ranging from yuca fries and frijoles con carne to a scrumptious chorizo hash. In addition, each table is offered a serving of grilled meats including picanha steak; BBQ pork shoulder; chorizo; Angus rib eye and achiote-marinated chicken.
Sunday Brunch is not the only new "happening" at this downtown dining spot. In keeping with Toro Toro’s free-spirited ambiance, every weekday at 5:30 p.m., the restaurant’s bar staff rings a cowbell to celebrate Happy Hour. A sight to see and a playful ritual takes place with bar patrons receiving a complimentary shot. In unison everyone is asked to raise their glasses and chant "pa’ arriba, pa’ abajo, pal centro y pa’ dentro" (up, down, to the center and inside). Toro Toro’s Happy Hour menu features discounted items, such as $5 bar bites; $5 domestic and imported beer; $6 house wines-by-the-glass and $7 select cocktails.
