It can be hard to choose where to go during Happy Hour when in the area, so these are the places we suggest for a Coral Gables Happy Hour
According to Uvaggio, the concept of Happy Hour is so passé, in fact highlighting how businesses overcharge their customers on times besides the usually weekday window from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Uvaggio claims that they do not offer happy hour because their prices cannot be offered for a cheaper price than they already are because it does not make sense financially. Instead, this recent addition to the Gables dining scene offers a deal from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. where diners are treated to small appetizers personally by the chef, and are then allowed to purchase a full bottle of wine for $30, coming complete with a full cheese board. Like Uvaggio’s other menu items, the cheese board is a careful selection of nothing but the finest and high-quality cheese and charcuterie, making your after-work dinner something to look forward to. We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again, Uvaggio has the most impressive wine selection in the neighborhood, and any deal that includes a full bottle with something to munch on is all right by us.

Whether you’re hitting up Yardhouse during happy hour for food or drinks, you are sure to find what you are looking for. Look, we know that Yardhouse is a chain. But we’d be wrong in not suggesting the value that this restaurant presents during the early (or late) hours of the night. Monday through Friday from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday through Wednesday from 10 p.m. to close, the Yardhouse at Merrick Park offers reduced prices on all of its drinks and select half-priced appetizers and pizzas. You cannot go wrong with coming in during these times and ordering a half-yard of one of their dozens of beers ($7.50-$10.50) or any well drinks for only $4.25. The food is tasty as well, with a various selection of pizza and upgraded takes on typical bar food such as Béarnaise Sliders ($7.45) or Moo Shu Egg Rolls.

Enough has been said about Bread + Butter and its fantastic happy hour, and with good reason. Happy hour runs weekdays from 5-7pm and features $3 cocktails of the week, half-priced wines & draft beers and $3-$5 snacks, including B+B pickles, Hialeah-style peanut cones and toston tostadas. If you’re not convinced yet, wait until you hear what Fridays bring. Fridays at the same time, you find an overly-glorified happy hour with the same menu as before except for specially priced Fritas for a mere $3. Not only are these some of the best Fritas in the city, they have officially become one of the cheapest within this time frame.

In what we consider to be one of the most underrated restaurants in Coral Gables, you can find amazing beer selections on tap and delectable eats. When you come during happy hour (4 p.m. to 7 p.m. daily and 11 p.m. to 2 a.m. daily), all beers and drinks under $7 are half-priced. When you have a chalk board covered with names of some of the best beers in the country, you can’t but say, “pour me another.” The food is locally sourced, and the menu offers complex on deceivingly simple dishes. You may order the Pork Chop expecting to get a simply grilled cut of pork, but instead you get a complex melding of flavors perfectly seared and served with new potato and charred corn salad, apple, crispy caper and sage gremolata. So walk into one of the best experiences in Coral Gables, and before you know it, you have probably sat through both of the happy hours.

How could we not include a place simply named The Bar in our list. Witness the mahogany bar, blue walls, friendly bartenders, and blaring jukebox as you indulge in standard bar food items like mozzarella sticks and chicken wings. The food is decent enough, but what you’re coming here for is the happy hour specials. Although not at specific times and prices, The Bar in Coral Gables has daily happy hours with different themes and specials. Enjoy karaoke, shot specials and 2-for-1 well drinks on Tuesdays or head over to Ladies Night for free well drinks on Fridays. This no-frills type of establishment is a refreshing change of pace from the upscale and sometimes pretentious places in the Gables. Just for variety’s sake, The Bar is definitely a place to consider when deciding on where to drink for the night.
