With the abundance of restaurant windows and small bakeries offering breakfast in Little Havana, it is not hard to find a place that makes your basic "cafecito" and that makes grab-and-go bites like pastelitos or empanada. Still, there are some stop-worthy destinations that offer tasty versions of some items that blow the competition out of the water.
A gritty looking restaurant that actually contains a lot of charm. One of those "don't judge a book by its cover" type of places that serves what many locals believe to be the best churros in the city. For less than $3, you are given a generous serving of 5 churros in a brown paper bag with what seems to be over a pound of cinnamon sugar. At first you may think that its overkill, but a few bites in will just leave you with a smile. Don't forget to order the thick hot chocolate for some dunking.

The competition for best pastelito (filled puff pastry treat) in Miami is a highly debatable decision, but it is clear that there are certain names that are always in the conversation. Pastelmania is one of those names that are always mentioned, since their pastelitos are always fresh and produce the hard-to-achieve combination of a perfectly browned pastry layer and not-too-dry, gooey center. We recommend the guava version.

Experience the true essence of the neighborhood as you enter this cash-only fruit stand offering some of the best juices and shakes in the area. Don't be surprised to see things like chickens running around, as this just adds to the atmosphere. This Little Havana staple is a great place to sit down and people watch while sipping on a refreshing juice for breakfast.
