Miamians should consider Monday, December 5 their lucky day – it’s the date that The Lucky Clover Irish Pub, at 1111 SW First Avenue in downtown Miami, will open its doors. Occupying two levels at the Axis on Brickell building, conveniently located right across the street from the Brickell MetroRail Station, The Lucky Clover encompasses 10,000 square feet, with seating for 350 indoors and out, and three spacious bars. With its traditional wooden façade that evokes the rustic pubs of Ireland, there’s nothing typical about the Lucky Clover -- with amazing décor that channels Dublin’s finest watering-holes and the comprehensive, reasonably priced menu that goes far beyond the usual fare of fish n’ chips and burgers. In addition to great grub, a weekday happy hour and live nightly entertainment that will run the gamut from local cover bands to the occasional national and international act, The Lucky Clover Irish Pub brings downtown a lively new destination for dining, drinking and socializing.
Lunch and dinner will be served daily, with continuous service from noon to midnight. The comprehensive menu offers all of the beloved comfort dishes familiar to pub habitués – and much more. For those who live and work in downtown Miami, there’s no better spot to grab a quick sandwich on lunch break or to enjoy a leisurely afternoon meal. The wide array of reasonably priced selections includes sandwiches, salads, pizzas, pastas and hearty main courses. Starters – which also double as great bar bites -- range from $7.99 to $14.99 and include Lucky sliders – delectable Kobe beef mini-burgers served with caramelized onions, brie, chipotle mayo and skinny fries; chicken quesadillas, a smoked salmon platter with all of the accoutrements, including grilled naan bread; and crispy calamari rings, among others.
Pastas and pizzas ($8.99 to $13.99) are perfectly at home on this menu. Thanks to a revolutionary kitchen boasting state-of-the-art pasta and pizza-making capabilities, all pasta and pizzas are made to order in-house with fresh ingredients. In addition to standards like the Margarita, pepperoni, and four cheese pies, diners can enjoy specialty creations including The Greek – essentially a salad atop a pizza – with marinara sauce, feta cheese, Kalamata olives, red onions, peppers, tomatoes, extra virgin olive oil and balsamic reduction and the pub’s signature pie; The Clover – grilled chicken, roasted garlic, sun-dried tomatoes, artichoke hearts, shaved parmesan, arugula and extra virgin olive oil. A comprehensive array of soups, salads and sandwiches ($6.99 to $15.99) are perfect for anytime dining, with enticing selections such as the Lucky spinach salad -- baby spinach adorned with candied pecans, fresh pear, grape tomatoes, blue cheese and gorgonzola dressing; the Clover wrap – grilled chicken breast, Applewood smoked bacon, grilled corn, Swiss cheese and lettuce and tomato, all wrapped in a flour tortilla; and the irresistible Lucky Clover burger – 8 oz. of prime sirloin served on a brioche bun and topped with Guinness cheddar and barbecue sauce.
Mainplates ($14.99 to $19.99) include Irish pub classics like a corned beef platter complete with mashed potatoes and braised red cabbage and Lucky Fish & Chips --Guinness hand-battered cod and perfectly authentic mint mushy pea; as well as lighter fare like grilled marinated Atlantic salmon, served with aromatic rice, garlic green beans and a tasty salsa verde.
But man cannot live by food alone. The Lucky Clover has libations aplenty at three spacious bars; with a wide selection of microbrews, domestic and imported bottles and ten beers on tap. The best of English and Irish brews are represented by Guinness, Harp, Smithwick’s, Bass Ale and Newcastle Ale; with Stella Artois, Blue Moon, Miller Lite and Sam Adams Lager, rounding out the list. A full slate of martinis and creative drinks are available, as well as Lucky Clover signature cocktails including intriguing libations like the Dublin Trouble, Naughty Irishman and Drunken Leprauchan, among others. A nice selection of whiskeys, bourbons and single malt scotches are also available.
The Lucky Clover is also the ideal venue to watch sporting events and enjoy live music with multiple flat screen TVs and a large screen HD TV, top of the line sound and lighting systems and permanent stage. An entertainment schedule, in development, promises live music nightly, with musical acts ranging from reggae to salsa and everything in between.
Designed by Retromania, a firm based in Spain that specializes in recreating the look and feel of authentic ale houses throughout Europe, The Lucky Clover welcomes guests with its lively yet cozy vibe -- from the rustic, scuffed floors to antique fixtures, reclaimed signage and gently distressed leather club chairs. Walls are covered with paintings of bucolic Irish countryside scenes, antique mirrors, vintage ads for chocolates and cigarettes, family crests, and hundreds of old period photos. The room glows with the warmth of soft lighting cast from hundreds of hand-picked lighting fixtures and lamps; colorful accents include antique beer kegs and bar accessories; and volunteer fire brigade hats. Vintage canoes hang from the hand-stenciled wooden ceiling. On the second floor, which has its own bar, guests can relax at scattered tables and high tops, in antiqued club chairs or lean over the balcony for a perfect bird’s-eye view of the stage and all of the action below.
