I used to go to Taqueria Midtown all the time as I was working in the neighborhood, now that I don't, Mercadito Taqueria is the place that I miss the most from all of the restaurants you find nowadays in Midtown Miami. I like how friendly people are here, there was an Argentinean guy at the register always with a smile, super accommodating and they were always very generous with their homemade chips that by the way, this place is worth visiting just for those delirious chips they make, and I love that everything is clean, well organized and sauces are kept in ice which gives the perfect sensory experience of "freshly prepared"
My absolute favorites tacos were the carnitas called "los originales" made of chipotle BBQ pork, crispy onions. These taquitos are delicious, and the chef the cuisine would make them just the way you ask them - I am a picky eater and if I would ask more of this or less on that, they are always very accommodating, now try to find a place in Miami where everyone smiles (hard at times, believe me), but Mercadito Taqueria must have great management behind it because from the young guys cleaning the tables to the people at the register to the person cooking the taquitos, everyone makes the place to be friendly and welcoming. Service at Taqueria is impeccable. And yes, you have to wait for your food because they cook it right when you order and I believe this is when you get the best taquitos in town. Now think about their tacos as Gourmet Tacos, if you are looking to get a whole bunch of food for the money, go to Taco Bell as this is not the right choice for you.
