Celebrate National Seafood Month With Locally-Caught Blackboard Specials and Complimentary Sommelier Selections

For a restaurant so renowned for masterful steakhouse cuisine featuring the highest quality prime cuts of beef that the word “steak” is actually part of its name, BLT Steak at the Betsy South Beach is also a coveted dining destination for some of the best seafood dishes available in South Florida. With October designated as National Seafood Month, timing is perfect to experience the pescetarian side of the acclaimed restaurant’s menu. From Saturday, October 1 through Monday, October 31, any diner ordering the specially composed seafood prix fixe menu ($60 including dessert) from the restaurant’s daily blackboard menu will receive two complimentary glasses of wine selected to accompany the seafood appetizer and entrée courses. Tax and gratuity are not included.

Rising star chef Sam Gorenstein’s blackboard menu specials, a trademark since the restaurant opened, are notable for showcasing perfectly prepared plates from the best local, sustainable proteins and produce available at market daily. Gorenstein, born in Colombia and raised in Miami, got his culinary start and established his seafood cred in New York, working with Chef Laurent Tourondel in 2005 at the star chef’s New York Times 3 -star BLT Fish; before returning to Miami and ultimately reconnecting with Tourondel to serve as his chef de cuisine at BLT Steak at The Betsy in 2009.

The blackboard menus include an appetizer, main, side dish and dessert. To celebrate National Seafood Month and enjoy the complimentary wine pairing, diners can choose an appetizer such as local triggerfish ceviche served with a soy-citrus sauce, cilantro, mango and jalapeno or a flavorful charred octopus with a tomato-harrisa compote. Entrée options could include grilled local yellowtail snapper with a smoked eggplant puree or a tomato crusted local wild cobia served with warm fregola sarda, charred tomatoes, artichokes and a lemon aioli. General manager David Weiss will pair wines specifically matched to the selections.

Of course, the BLT Steak dinner menu is chock full of delicious signature seafood selections available year round including the iconic tuna tartare with avocado and soy-lime dressing, grilled spiny lobster in ginger scallion broth, and Dover sole with brown soy caper butter.

BLT Steak is located at The Betsy-South Beach at 1440 Ocean Drive on Miami Beach.
