Sunday night is family night in the Martinez-Bernstein house, the evening chef Michelle Bernstein and her husband/partner, David Martinez, have put aside to sit down with their son, Zachary. No cell phones, no emails, no TV or videogames – just great food and conversation. Hoping to give SoFla foodies and families a perfect opportunity to break bread and reconnect, the duo is introducing Sensational Sundays at Michy’s.
“I love to cook everything, from Asian and Latin to American comfort food,” acknowledges Bernstein. “The menu at Michy’s has always reflected that. This dinner series is about fun and family – good food, made with love and meant to be shared and enjoyed.” Kicking off Sunday, October 21 and running each Sunday through November, the weekly dinner series, served family-style, priced at $38 per person/$22 per person for kids under 12 (excluding beverage, tax and gratuity), will feature a theme or specific cooking style, changing weekly based on seasonality and chef Bernstein’s whim. The Sunday, October 21’s dinner theme: Spain, featuring Sra. Martinez classics (i.e. crispy artichokes and shrimp tiradito) as well new surprises. To accompany the dinner, Martinez will hand-pick select bottles wines, offered at amazingly affordable prices -- $25-$30 per bottle, $6-$8 by the glass.
Of special note to dinner attendees: if their server does not see an IPod, smartphone or any other electrical device at the table during the meal, everyone in that party will receive a complimentary red velvet cupcake (a must-try, signature Michelle Bernstein dessert).
