There is something going on in the culinary scene in Miami, and we recommend these events in Miami this weekend June 6, 2014.

Sabvor Iberica Food and Wine Exhibition 2014

Miami Culinary Institute, in collaboration with The Spain-US Chamber of Commerce, will be hosting a grand exhibition displaying internationally acclaimed food and wines. While the fair is primarily aimed at professionals in the agro-food industry, there will be general admission tickets sold to whoever wants to attend. General public may attend the event between 5.30 and 8.30pm, but industry professionals have the option of going from 11:00am to 4:30pm, where they can taste products and establish greater business opportunities while networking with possible business partners. Local Spanish restaurants will serve dishes for guests to dig into and there will be plenty of wine.

World Cup Wine Dinner

The FIFA World Cup happens every four years, and db Bistro Moderne is celebrating the occasion with a kick-off party the day prior to the inauguration. Sommelier Christopher Birnie-Visscher is paying homage to Brazil, the host country and Chefs Jason Pringle and Jerome Maure prepare a four- course menu to pair with these beverages. The Sommelier will also honor the winners of the previous four world cups by offering drinks dedicated to them as well. The evening begins with the Brazilian Casa Valduga, Brut 130, NV and proceeds with Feudi San Gregorio, Fiano di Avellino, 2012 from Italy;
Philippe Alliet, Chinon, 2011 from France;
Marqu és de Riscal, Baron de Chirel, Reserva, from Rioja, 2001 Spain;
and J.J. Christoffel, Riesling, Spatlese, Urziger Wurzgarten, Mosel, 2010 from Germany.

Wishes Granted Fundraiser

Catholic Hospice, a community-based not-for-profit program serving the South Florida community since 1988, is raising funds to help grant patients their last wish. Catholic Hospice believes that when medical treatment no long proves to be effective in a patient’s life, the next thing to focus on is the person’s quality of life. Through a cocktail fundriaser, Catholic Hospice will be serving food and drinks, and also perform a silent auction and raffles to raise funds. All proceeds go to Wishes Granted. Friday the 13th Full Moon Party at Beauty & the Feast

Macy’s Culinary Council Chef Marcus Samuelsson Cooking Demo

Marcus Samuelson, Top Chef Masters winner and culinary writer, is celebrating his new cookware, Marcus Samuelsson American Table for Belgique, through a cooking demonstration at Macy’s in Dadeland Mall.
