Meeting Ben Arndt and Todd Erickson was the highlight of the visit at this new Haven restaurant located at 1237, Lincoln Road, Miami Beach, Florida 33139. We visited with my friend Luis Rigual who knows about serious food. They both were so passionate about their new menu they put up that the food even tasted better, yep, that's how passion plays such a huge role in a business success (in my humble opinion). So I head down to Lincoln rd because I really like to try restaurants that just opened up, I always feel they will put that extra effort and Executive Chef Todd Erickson did. I must mentioned that the service was exceptional we well.
When I walk into a restaurant and the bar displays the most beautiful leeches fruits, well, that sets me up in a good food mood. I start feeling everything in here must be fresh (maybe that is a psychological association) but that is what I felt sitting down at the bar section.
Fresh? Like right out of the water. This is probably the best one I have tried in a long time. I love the decor that goes around every dish servered at Haven, I think they go with my motto that "Food Is Art" and every dish should be not only perfectly done but artistically presented. This small little appetizer went down between my friend and I before I took a first sip into the white sangria they served.
These sweet potato fries came with lemon cayenne aioli and chevril. This was my favorite dish at Haven because I have an addition with aioli sauce but this one is one to remember and the one it will make me come back to this place. Insanely delicious, I think my friend who I was dining with him did not get a chance to try not even one, good, he was well entertained drinking glasses of wine masterpieces.
They call this roll the "crackle-pop" with spicy tuna (of course), seared and crispied rice, daikon and yuzu-shichimi aioli. No, no, no... you will not find a spicy tuna roll of this caliber anywhere in town (period), believe me. This was the most perfectly balanced roll because of the rice itself. I hate when I ordered at restaurants my favorite roll, the tuna spicy roll, and they serve a block of rice. In dish dish the rice was as yummy as the fresh tuna - I just love this place!
