Sosta, Lincoln Road’s casual eatery known for authentic thin crusted pizzas and farm fresh salads, has recently expanded its menu and has launched a variety of special promotions including a new Happy Hour and HEAT Gameday specials. A local’s favorite for lunch and dinner, Sosta opened in 2009 and is overseen by identical twin chefs Nicola and Fabrizio Carro who also serve at the helm of Lincoln Road’s landmark Northern Italian restaurant Quattro Gastronomia Italiana.
New on the menu at Sosta is a selection of freshly-baked sandwiches – crispy oven-baked pizza dough stuffed with an array of tasty Northern Italian delights. Diners can choose from The Sorrento roasted eggplant layered with fresh tomatoes, buffalo mozzarella, roasted red peppers and fresh basil; The Cotto Parma - fresh sliced Italian ham, tomato, Swiss cheese and a mayonnaise-whole grain mustard spread; or The Chefs’ Sandwich – thinly-sliced grilled chicken breast topped with sweet and spicy chipotle onions and crispy prosciutto. All sandwiches are $11 and served with a side salad or French fries. Of course diners can still enjoy one of the signature specialty pizzas and salads, as well as the great prepared dishes such as the filetto dí merluzzo alla lívornese con pomodoríní e olive – Atlantic cod fish, prepared Livornese style with cherry tomatoes and black olives.
In addition to the new menu items, Sosta has also rolled out several new promotions, including Happy Hour and HEAT Gameday specials. Offered Monday through Friday, from 3pm – 7pm, Happy Hour features $4 bottled beer; $5 wine by the glass and housemade sangria $3/glass, $14/pitcher. In addition, guests can also enjoy discounted salads and appetizers ($3-$8) such as le polpete dí manzo – the Carros’ famed house meatballs in a tomato sauce, which won praise from Rocco DiSpirito when the twins appeared last year on Rocco’s Dinner Party, as well as a rotating selection of pizzas and pastas ($7-$8). HEAT fans will delight in the new game day specials, featuring a Diavola Pizza pie and a Peroni for $12. Guests can enjoy the games on one of two large screen HD televisions.
Meaning “quick stop” in Italian, Sosta, designed by New York-based Studio A Design, resembles a chef’s home kitchen. A white marble countertop sets the bar apart from the open kitchen located at the back of a cozy rectangular room, wrapped in deep brown and orange hues. Bar stools are positioned for perfect viewing of the gleaming stainless steel kitchen and Italian-made Morello Forni rotating pizza oven, one of only two used in the United States. Breaking up the dark, contemporary tile walls are large rectangular niches, filled with wine bottles and beverages from Sosta’s menu. Simple wood tables fill the space with rust-colored leather benches framing the walls.
Sosta offers a carefully selected list of over 75 wines from around the world, including a small selection of dessert wines. Beer, a full bar and a number of non-alcoholic beverages are also available.
Located at 1025 Lincoln Road, Sosta seats 35 guests inside; 82 guests on the outdoor patio. Sosta is open for lunch and dinner daily from noon - midnight. For further information, please call 305-722-5454. www.sostapizzeria.com www.twitter.com/sostamiami
