Pincho Factory had been on my radar for quite some time but it’s location in South (and I mean SOUTH) Miami kept me away. Imagine my joy when I caught word that they would be opening a second location in Coral Gables. I was among the first to go, eager to get my hands on their renowned Toston Burger, fries and more. Thankfully, it did not disappoint and I find myself going back time and time again.
Their menu isn’t extensive. It’s divided by pinchos (skewers), burgers, hot dogs, chicken sandwiches, fries & tots and “the classics.” Prices are super reasonable with nothing topping $10 and the format is simple. Walk in the door and straight to the counter where you order, grab a number, and wait until your food is brought to you by the always pleasant staff.
It’s called Pincho Factory, so upon my first visit I had to try a pincho and went for the steak. It was a simple skewer but the juicy meat was cooked perfectly and I dipped it in their cilantro sauce which is just one of the many housemade condiments they offer. I paired it with some sweet potato tots because, in my mind, nothing can beat them. Little did I know, their cajun fries topped in “secret pink sauce” that I tried on my next visit were unbelievable. Get both.
Next time, I also knew I had to try their famous Toston Burger. That’s a burger that uses two fried plantains as the “bun” and is topped with Jack cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, and homemade cilantro sauce. With one bite, I knew why it has had the foodie community buzzing for some time. They also have specialty burgers. I tried the Oktoberfest burger and their “Croquettessa” burger, “the world’s first ⅓ pound chuck, brisket and short rib croquetta burger patty topped with crunchy pickles, dijon mustard and mayo cuddled in a brioche bun.” It doesn’t get more indulgent than that.
To top it off, they have beers on tap, along with a wide array of bottled beers, and even wine if you prefer that with your burger and fries. As I mentioned before, I can’t say enough about the friendly staff and homey atmosphere. This is an excellent addition to the Gables and one I hope stays around for awhile. If you’re like me and were holding off on giving it a try due to the location, make your way a little less far south and see what the well deserved hype is about.
