I have been hearing about Harry's Pizzeria in the Design District for quite a while now. The other day at lunch Mirka came with her son and nephew for lunch and she recommended to go here. I accepted. I am not very enthusiastic when it comes to eating pizza but at Harry's it was a whole different kind of pizza.

It is a bit strange the location because it is on North Miami avenue and I would imagined that parking was going to be a little bit difficult but we found one right in front. When we walked inside I was blown away by the ambiance. It is a small place but so cozy and inviting with a modern style. The brick oven (and so I want to believe is a brick oven) is right there in front of the dining room which probably holds about about 40 people. And then there is a bar section.

We were in between ordering the Caponata pizza that comes with eggplant, mozzarella, pecorino and basil and the braised fennel with trugole, basil, caramelized onions and green olives. The Caponata our server told us comes with raisins, something I do not want on my pizza so we went for the braised fennel.

Right away I was able to tell that the cheese was of very good quality. Some cheese leaves a grease taste in your mouth but the one here was amazingly good. The caramelized onions were cooked to perfection, soft, salty (but not too salty), and the basil complemented every bite you took. I shared it with Mirka but I could have eaten this pizza all by myself.

The pizzas are not too large and they have only one side. I can't imagine how the other 10 options they have taste. The service was excellent, the pizza came right out and the waitress recommended a Chardonnay from Italy that was one of the best ones I have ever tried. Harry's Pizzeria is reasonably priced, a local spot where you will not be disappointed if you are looking for gourmet pizza.
